Know of very few of those locally who are even operating and aside from supermarkets not much else is open.

It would be more to make the closures official,I know one barber shop still open and two hair dressers .

So you are worried about the guy delivering it but have no concern about who cooked it, what precautions they took?

I don't think you can the virus from hot food,

Also, you can't live your life worrying about every single possible scenario especially when you have no control over it.

The safest approach is to consider that everybody you meet could have CoViD-19 and potentially give it to you. Similarly act as if you might have it and want to avoid giving it to anyone else.

RTE: New restrictions will see fewer people going out to work

We are slowly but surely getting there ourselves with non-essential closures already but the likes of the construction industry in particular are going to need some sort of government enforcement to really nip this in the bud.

Will these new measures close takeaways? Supermarkets are cleaned out and people have to eat

Agreed, I drove through greystones yesterday and everything except chemists, banks, supermarkets and O'Briens was closed.

    Same around Dalkey.

We need more compliance of the 2m rule. That in itself will cause aditional closures.
I actually think stronger measures around distancing is the big one, to protect people not observing it and wannabee vigilantes from themselves.

I find it's best to strict with discipline early on. You can then relax it when desired behaviour is followed. Much harder to be nice initially, then expect people to conform after.

Even in Italy and Spain hardware shops are deemed to be essential.
More Incase something breaks in your house a leak electric ECT.
Trades people deemed essential because a lot of people won't be able to repair the likes themselves.
    They would need resources also

Our first case was the end of February. Does anybody know why we are showing so few (5) recovered? It seems that proportionally, other countries are showing more. Is it the recovery criteria that Ireland uses?

I was looking at that aswell very slow recovery. I saw an interview a couple home from skiing in France the husband is discharged wife still in hospital 18 days later. Takes a long recovery doesn't it.

Not all construction is a problem, guys can work away on private houses etc without having any issues with 2m distancing.

Non food stuff panic/prepping buying yesterday.

I am a radio ham, and as my antenna was destroyed in a recent storm I thought I would buy a new one. I called a large radio distributor in the UK, and while I was on the phone in the background I could hears lots of phones ringing and people talking. After placing the order I asked her if they were busy, she said it was the busiest day they could remember, selling loads of high end communications gear.

I guess a lot of people are putting in their own communications systems.

Another friend in the UK owns 2 Vape shops, the CV has made them the busiest they have been too.

There is a Dr. on This Morning who is on day 10 of having Coronavirus symptoms, she is back practicing as a GP and is back in studio. Wow what a lockdown. #

That is not true.. they declared it was a pandemic when it actually was one.

Declaring a pandemic too early would have caused some countries to stop tracing contacts and to give up on confronting the virus aggressively.

Why would it have caused to stop tracing contacts and give up confronting the virus? It is now declared a pandemic and we have more contact tracing and containment measures then ever.
The reason they do not recommend travel restrictions is to make sure that trade continues and things like PPEs for the front line medical staff are available everywhere.

Travel restrictions or quarantines when entering a country don’t prevent the trade of goods. We are talking about restricting individuals. As a matter of fact many countries which implemented travel restrictions for individuals early (alongside other measures) are the ones currently trading the most as their economies, factories and infrastructure are still 100% up and running. For exemple China now has strong restrictions to enter the country but shipping out masks and ventilators to the rest of the world.

I could be wrong but I think people who have the virus but are self isolating are not being tested after the 14 days elapse

Yup sadly construction companies can have all the toolbox talks and new procedures they like, it's nigh impossible to keep ensure its adhered to on site especially busy ones. It's not nessecarily the work out in the open, it's the in and out of portacabins or the work essentially indoors doing fit out etc.

For some sites it's feasible to keep going but, it won't be a case by case won't cut it.

Exactly.....not everyone has same symptoms....even more reason that she should have believed that it absolutely could be Covid....

Fever is one sign.....it's not D only sign, and it's not a sign that HAS to be present....

I knew that weeks ago.....and I am not presenting bloody programmes on it...

But she did? Which is why she self isolated immediately and got herself tested. How this that being dismissive? Her initial symptoms were that of a head cold, but she got herself tested anyway.

The number of cases of coronavirus in Italy is probably 10 times higher than the official tally of almost 64,000, the head of the agency that is collating the data said.

    Thats over half a million.

I had really bad diarrhea from last Wednesday evening until Sunday along with constant stomach cramps, was somewhat cold but no fever or cough and I'm fine now.

Has anyone experienced the same and been referred for twstt. Don't wanna bother the doctor with ringing. Have been off work anyway since Friday last

There appears to be no consistent or universal symptoms to coronavirus apart from maybe a cough. Some infected eg Claire Byrne have reported no high temperature or fever.

What you had may or may not be coronavirus, but if you are noticing anything out of the ordinary with your health its safer to assume you have covid and try to self isolate.

Guys my GP isn’t answering. Phone or email. I have symptoms. HSE website gives no other way to arrange testing. Any ideas for help?

Italy is closer to achieving the herd immunity than any other nation in the world.
