How come Claire Byrne's set up was much more professional last week?

I'd guess that she's just using one of her own devices for a camera as she's tested positive whereas last week RTE probably installed a better setup.

A low death rate is ideal, yes.

But how the hell can you possibly argue that a high infection rate is better than a low one??

Countries have a higher death rate because they haven't been testing sufficiently, thus people with Mild symptoms or asymptomatic people go around spreading it to the vulnerable.

I can Guarantee that countries with a higher death rate have not identified the vast majority of their infections. identifying the infected is key to stopping the spread. If you know you have it you will isolate.

this is ireland. realistically the only people who will break the rules are groups of teenagers who the guards are well able to deal with. no one needs guns ffs.

I thanked your post but I didn't mean to...what about the very prominent criminal gangs with plenty of low IQ non adhering to the law idiots, what about violent drug addicts who don't care about this because they're too out of it to know what's happening? What about general fnckwits who just won't because of inbred obstinacy...they all need policing and sending to bed.

Presumably most of the production team on Claire Byrne are self isolating.

It helps kill the virus then it should be used. Other leaders would wait months before a drug is tested over and over before mass produced. New York at least agrees with Trump so we shall see.

There is a reason we test drugs. The drug should go into clinical trial like all drugs and if the clinical trial shows that it is effective then yes it should be used. Until then it will not be an approved treatment.

I think the HSE should just say how many results have been processed and how many tests have taken place. It gives a good indication of where we are. Instead they say we are working towards 4500 a day when they are nowhere near that for tests , and we have no idea how many are being processed that we are getting results for. With the delays that many are claiming we might only be processing a few hundred a day We I have no idea.

    Well there ya go.

    Why shouldn’t she be?

Hopefully. I just cant bear to think of the impact thia is having on people there. The SKY clip was very upsetting. Tragic.

1320 cases in Swizerland today, the highest so far. Per capita that is even greater than Italy's highest daily total of 6500. If Switzerland was the same size as Italy it would have recorded about 10,500 new cases today

Have you had any close contact with them in the last week or two? You may have to self isolate, the HSE are contacting all such people.

No, thankfully, and I haven't had contact with the mutual friend in either case, so small mercies and all that. One who has it was at a party with about a dozen people on Friday night. Her father is critical and who knows how many have it in that circle now.

For those working from home, unemployed, stressed best thing to do, if you're in reasonable health is get a routine going.

Eat healthy, plenty of fruit, veg, good carbs like porridge, decent bread, potatoes etc. I'm on VitC, VitD, omega 3 oils, garlic tabs, multi vitamins for a poor immune system.

Get an exercise rota. Be it outdoor walking, cycling, running or an indoor bike or threadmill. If you have free weights use them and body core exercises like planks, pressups, bridging, situps etc. The stronger and fitter you are, the better your immune system will be and the better you'll be able to fight Covid 19.

Limit screentime. Only spend so much time updating on Covid19. We all know the dos and don'ts at this stage. Leave a bit of time for comedy, some escapism. Meditation if you do that. Prayer if that's for you.

Take one day at a time. It's much easier deal with anything when it's broken down into small manageable segments rather than trying to think 3 months ahead.

Though you may be unemployed you are not going to fight a war tmrw. The vast majority of us will be ok.

Online message boards can be dangerous. Like this one. Lots of good posts and info. But some stress us. Others make us angry if we strongly disagree with someone. Endless tit for tat on boards is a waste of time and energy and only tires you. Now I say this as one who has had to pull himself away from social media conflict too often.

A really good policy is to turn your mobile off at 9pm. I'm starting from tmrw!

Ah lads ffs trump on cnn now is the worst I’ve ever seen.
My god they are absolutely fooked.
He talks of social distancing when his aides are standing right next to him.
He is so out of his depth here it’s uncomfortable to watch.
I feel so sorry for the USA if this guy is calling the shots.

I think she is leading by example. Clearly outlining in a calm manner the steps people should take.

    Fair play to her.

7 days to get a test, and 48 hours to get the results after that.

If u had COVID19 and was waiting on a test, you'd test negative by the time you got tested

    Ficheall wrote: »

Yes and if you test more you should find more infections.
That's not a negative, it's a positive because you can get them to stay away from people.

Imagine if you have a bunch of poisonous berries. If you only find 20 poisonous Berries and 18 people die that's bad testing. If you find 200 poisonous berries and 20 people die you've done a better job.

Sounds like Trump going to treat it state by state, saying states are shut down with few cases, while New York needs a different approach

UK Gov list of non-essential business https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/874714/Full_guidance_on_staying_at_home_and_away_from_others.pdf
The Government is now extending this requirement to a further set of businesses and other venues, including:
    ● all non-essential retail stores - this will include clothing and electronics stores; hair, beauty and nail salons; and outdoor and indoor markets, excluding food markets.
    ● libraries, community centres, and youth centres.
    ● indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, arcades and soft play facilities.
    ● communal places within parks, such as playgrounds, sports courts and outdoor gyms.
    ● places of worship, except for funerals attended by immediate families.
    ● hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts, campsites, caravan parks, and boarding houses for commercial/leisure use (excluding permanent residents and key workers).

So only shops that aren't food markets and accommodation and leisure providers.

Of course Sports Direct are already declaring themselves as uniquely placed to help Britain keep fit and healthy and therefore an essential store so they intend to stay open.
