Re work, what do you think the Chinese did? People still needed to man the supermarkets and pharmacies. This is as close to lockdown as the UK is going to get. Your move, Leo...

    So hold on.

We didn't follow the UK last week as they made a balls of it.

But now Leo needs to copy Boris?????

That is as far as lockdown should go. Dogs can be walked but people can't? I don't get that forgive me for being cynical

Thought Boris delivered that very well

    Good speech by Boris Johnson.

It just shows how vacuous Leo Varadkar's address to the nation was, where he addressed the nation and with nothing new.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    Essential work only
Fines if you break the lockdown

There's videos doing the rounds of people getting arrested going out for a jog in other countries and they said "work as long as it can't be done from home," which isn't quite the same as essential only. Not quite at some European country levels yet (but still a major escalation)

I know some just don't like him and while agree they were slow to act....

That was a great address from Boris, he layed it straight out especially needed for selfish types like we've seen here

A great, but much need address

This is a backtrack from Boris. Nothing less. He f*cked up in the first place. Some people on here are delusional.

Yeah he fùcked up monumentally at the start but he is doing the right thing now.

We are keeping keeping on with thick cùnts allowed mob around with no consequence.

We usually copy the UK in political moves so I say we can expect a similar move here..

How are you possibly comparing us with a country with nearly 350 deaths? It's a ridiculous comparison. You can't compare countries in this scenario.

Maybe yes. This is all uncharted territory.

    It's not a total lockdown.

Its as good as that. Essential journeys only. As he said, very limited prurposes.

    Lockdown announced in the UK

Good luck with enforcing that in some of the London boroughs, the army will have to be deployed

Yes, more balls but no brains, they are doing this because they acted too late.

    Give over.

Jaysus, it's as close you can get.

Once a day for exercise and work only if you can't work for home.

    No gatherings.
    What more do you want?

LV's address was a catchup and rallying call and that's all.
Spoilt by the cliches but it is what it was.
Next one he should drop the vanity and give us the real deal

Time now for leo to step up and shut ireland down.

Indeed, and having an extra freezer has been a big help this week.
Fresh food is starting to run low, been in isolation for a week now. Hoping that wife gets her swab result tomorrow. If all clear I will be able to get those stocked up again.

Need fruit/veg/milk, for the kids, more than anything.

Is there a neighbour who could do it for you?

Ireland took action a long time ago! Step by step.
Schools. Paddys day. Pubs. Strong social distancing push.

Boris has tried to do it all... in one lump.
    and is way too late.

If we follow suit.., it’s ANOTHER step in our process. Not the bloody first step!

    It's a mammoth backtrack.

Literally the opposite of their initial Herd Immunity strategy.

Doubt we will be hearing that horrid phrase again.

This was the guy a few weeks ago was shaking hands and encouraging people to go to football games.

Now his herd immunity has failed, and their numbers are bad, why worse than Ireland's and he's to take extreme measures.
