    Boris now overtaking Leo.

They are doing this because they acted too late and know they are the next Italy.

what difference would that make? either way?

(Would) make a massive difference. Without knowing about antibodies, you could test negative for the virus and then catch it on your way home. It doesn't really get rid of the fear of catching it or spreading it, it just tells you that at this particular point in time you're not infected with it.

He is like a brow beaten headmaster now. I think he needs to ban exercise as that will cause people to congregate in parks and on scenic walks.

Exactly what we have been doing.
Our testing hasn’t even reflected out measures yet.

    Boris:

You should not be meeting family members who do not live in your home.

You should not be going shopping except for essentials like food and medicine - and you should do this as little as you can. And use food delivery services where you can.

If you don’t follow the rules the police will have the powers to enforce them, including through fines and dispersing gatherings.

Close all shops selling non-essential goods, including clothing and electronic stores and other premises including libraries, playgrounds and outdoor gyms, and places of worship.

We will stop all gatherings of more than two people in public – excluding people you live with; and we’ll stop all social events, including weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies, but excluding funerals.

Should be same household, family living in different houses can't concorgate

I like this rule in the current context. Should be our next escalation.

This is a backtrack from Boris. Nothing less. He f*cked up in the first place. Some people on here are delusional.

Re work, what do you think the Chinese did? People still needed to man the supermarkets and pharmacies. This is as close to lockdown as the UK is going to get. Your move, Leo...

At least you know what is in your home made burgers..

Indeed, and having an extra freezer has been a big help this week.
Fresh food is starting to run low, been in isolation for a week now. Hoping that wife gets her swab result tomorrow. If all clear I will be able to get those stocked up again.

Need fruit/veg/milk, for the kids, more than anything.

    UK going into full lockdown!
They went from "herd immunity, large gatherings, pubs open, be grand" and rolled back each one and now full lockdown. We need to do similar here. There are too many morons risking too many people's lives by not following the simple fcuking rule of stay away from other people you don't live with.

This is literally a matter of life and death. It's that stark. You can postpone weddings, loans, jobs, you can't bring the dead back to life.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Would you have the balls to stand up to three thugs like he did?

Plus he had no idea if they were carrying a Gun or knife

Boris going to down on it anyway, the right move I reckon.

    So hold on.

We didn't follow the UK last week as they made a balls of it.

But now Leo needs to copy Boris?????

That is as far as lockdown should go. Dogs can be walked but people can't? I don't get that forgive me for being cynical

    Good speech by Boris Johnson.

It just shows how vacuous Leo Varadkar's address to the nation was, where he addressed the nation and with nothing new.

There's videos doing the rounds of people getting arrested going out for a jog in other countries and they said "work as long as it can't be done from home," which isn't quite the same as essential only. Not quite at some European country levels yet (but still a major escalation)
