Its incorrect to state they were tested outside the normal protocol or ahead of anyone before them
    You don't know it's incorrect.

Good to see people have their priorities straight anyway, absolute clown the lot of em !

I can't see the issue with people queueing for a McDonald's before it closes. Only serving drive through so what is the problem.
I don't like McDonald's, but those people are harming no one, might be a treat for kids. A lot of judgemental people around. A little live and let live wouldn't go amiss.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/fauci-u-s-looking-very-closely-severe-coronavirus-symptoms-younger-n1166026
"Now we have to look at the young people who are getting seriously ill from the European cohort and make sure that it isn't just driven by the fact that they have underlying conditions, because we know that underlying conditions — all bets are off no matter how young you are if you have an underlying, serious medical condition. You're going to potentially get into trouble," Fauci added.

"But if they don't have underlying conditions, that will be something we will have to really examine as to why we're seeing it here but we didn't see it in China. So we're going to look at that very closely."

There is nothing from China we can trust on this.

Too little too late. It has totally destroyed Italy. They ignored the warnings like UK and will pay a huge price for it. I really hope China pays heavily for this disaster so that they never again allow this to happen. They are to blame and like the Soviets with Chernobyl tried to cover it up. The world will change as a result of this.

It has not destroyed Italy and by vomiting forward such ****e its plainly obvious you know nothing about Italians or indeed anyone over there at the moment. It is an horrendous situation without doubt but they are not and will not be destroyed. STAI ZITA

They announced yesterday they were moving to 4,500 a day. Previously they had said 15,000 a day.

However with a backlog of 40,000 and it actually takes a few days for results to come through the figures we are getting today possibly only reflects the position from 1 to 2 weeks ago

The UK have "ramped-up" to 10,000 a day

So the UK are still not testing at the same volume per capita as Ireland then?

At least the police arrested these scumbags in England for the coughing in peoples faces thing. Hope the cops are stepping on their balls right now. Looks like they assaulted the 70 year old woman as well.

Anyone know what time NPHET meeting is at tomorrow? (Googled and searched boards to no avail)
They don't give a time for that - during the day. They'll comment on it at the briefing unless there is a need for a ministerial announcement. Based on how "pleased" they are with the market research l'd say a stern warning is all that will be delivered.

Was in work today. Office work and non essential work at that. Most of the other sections have been told to work at home or staggered hours. But my section had everyone in. All only a few feet from each other and doing full days. I just don't feel safe being in there anymore. Our boss doesn't care about his employees health. When we asked about staggered hours the response was there's no need yet.

What’s the point in ramping up testing without the means to process the tests.
    What do you mean

I don't disagree with what you are saying.

You seem genuine. I'm sorry if I offend you, not my intention. There is evidence that it is airborne. It is a respiratory disease and other diseases like it are spread in this way. It is more infectious that the flu Ro number. Telling people that masks / respirators don't work when the COULD work is disingenuous. We don't need to know something with 100% certainty to make a decision. Otherwise we would never make a decision or get out of bed in the morning.

I've family who are healthcare workers. I was appalled at the level of PPE that were given to them. I did advise them to spend their own money in the interest of their safety. They did this.

As for going shopping. Why do we implement controls at all if there is no danger. You have reduce risk and break transmission chains.

Here's some things I would think are sensible given the risk. It's a lot of work but gives you an idea of why most people wouldn't get right, might sound mental but you asked.
    1. don't go out if you don't have to.
    2. if you do have to go out go to a supermarket when it is less busy
    3. If you have a fp3 rated mask and or goggles. Wear them
    4. Wear latex gloves if you have them but don't think you are invincible.
    5. bring hand sanitizer in the car.
    6. when you are shopping keep your distance as much as possible
    7. only touch what you intend to pick up.
    8. when you get back to the the car use the handsanitizer
    9. stay in the mask as the shopping is essentially contaminated as are your clothes.
    10. when you get home remove PPE in the correct manner. youtube it if unsure.
    11. put clothes for washing
    12. have a shower
    13. sterilise shopping with disinfectant and or hot water and detergent.

I think most people are already doing most of those things. They are already stated in the public health guidelines. With the exception of PPE.

So, your answer to my questions is:

Employment of a Grade 3 Respirator for the public to use doing their shopping and latex gloves. Furthermore, to learn correct techniques for putting on and off PPE using YouTube for the uninitiated.

sorry, I dont understand. If the world continued with this lockdown status for a year, how would it endanger life?
Through the enormous economic damage, unlike anything you've ever imagined. Real dystopian stuff and wildly disproportionate.

And this is why MLMcD is, I'm afraid, correct.
Unsafe practices are taking place right across businesses that are open.
I mean, could they not have repurposed the WFH lots office space for people they deem have to come in.
