But why just accept that? We could do better than we are and reduce it more.

    Sure lookit,we should aim.for zero

But realistically, the thing is rampant across the state and we probably need a certain amount to get it and recover to make spreading it slower

The brits werent wrong with their herd immunity plan, just they complety over estimated the capacity of their health service,

People really don't value their time do they. Why would you want to spend such a long time sitting in your car for something you could make at home in a few minutes.

I think for the next 12 months we're going to have a surplus of time

Olympics postponed - no official announcement just yet.

( IOC rep speaking to USA Today , via LBC news radio here in the UK)

Given that whole countries looked like they were pulling out they had to do something. Not good they were forced

They do the test anyway to check for antibodies. If you've none you didn't the virus in the first place so still at risk. But I'm just emeldc on boards, not a doctor

I'm not an expert but how do they test for antibodies without drawing blood? The tests being administered here are with swabs. I think you're wrong.

I think I've lost faith in us as a society seeing these actions the last few weeks.

I'm settled here now but by jaysus will be planning to move the fk out when I retire. Amount of gob****e, thick cnts around.

Where are you thinking of moving to that wouldn't have a similar subset of people?

    What are you on about?

I'd say 90% of people are doing the right thing.

What makes you think it's better abroad? All countries are having the same problem.

I thought we were better than that, even if it is 10% it's far too much. Plus i'm allowed a rant now and again:pac:

Let us know how you get on in whichever Nirvana you end up in.

Personally I'm proud that the vast majority of folk have taken this seriously and the governments reaction to it.

    We. Are.
Ramping up to 4,500 a day - that means it will take 8 or 9 days just to go through the backlog built up to yesterday. Those being put forward for testing today may be waiting another 10 days. Some could be recovered. Some may feel they have recovered only for it to have reduced to a non-noticeable level, cancel their test to then find it re-erupts in them

Still big question marks over the Irish data

    I agree.
People rushing to do jobs they have been putting off like it's all going to be over soon.

I have a horrible feeling this could be a 12 to 18 months job.Has anyone got that many "jobs" that they will last that long?

Did anybody see the news article about the Corona Challenge? They discussed how there is a new trend, whereby people cough in the face of the elderly. Please, oh please, tell me that this is a bit of sensationalist detritus, and that certain individuals in society have not stooped so low?

Don't know whether that's true or not, but if it is, anybody caught at that should be summarily executed and their carcasses hung in a gibbet as a warning. I say that as someone who has elderly parents.

    Christ almighty!

This isn't as shocking as some of the replies to that tweet suggest.

It's always been said we're only at the start and we haven't even seen the product of any social distancing in the numbers yet nor would we expect to.

Think it needs to be taken in perspective and people need to stop demanding a lockdown. Existing measures need time first

Would have to be somewhere in Asia.

New Zealand have announced a total lockdown and they have 102 cases. People are accepting it. We should have done something similar. No room for the gob****es to gob****e.

Father works in a management position at the CUH. Prefabs are being installed right now to cater for more ICU beds. Old buildings are currently being renovated to raise capacity. ICU bed numbers are going to increase significantly.
By more than 30% a day, hopefully?

Yeah, but think of it this way - those in the queue can post selfies on Facebook of tucking into their last Big Mac, possibly ever if they catch something from it....

Why is there a big question mark? They do so many tests a day and get results and report them.

They plan to ramp testing up to 15,000 a day soon and then the tests numbers will be more up todate and numbers will increase further.
