Most of the country closed down already.. whiles it’s mostly closed, close everything else for afew weeks.. no one allowed into country for foreseeable future without self isolation for two weeks.. Ireland will be clear of virus quicker than if they stay going as they are and a lot less deaths

If you think stay going as we are and ignoring Italy’s warnings work... then look at Uk. Spain France Italy and America ... all fukt

When you say most of the country has closed down, you do know that a large % of people are working from home, or in fact still working in offices.

One last thing - lets say we do what your saying - regardiing next 2/3 weeks, at what stage do you reopen the airports to people if Europe is still a mess?

You only know they were tested
Its incorrect to state they were tested outside the normal protocol or ahead of anyone before them

They seem to have got a test and result fast yet still some at risk vulnerable are waiting on a test

No need to be a knob.
Most people don’t know that only 2000 a day are getting tested.
Only 2k? That is pretty decent for a fairly small country. It is also being seriously ramped up there was a 4.5k figure mentioned

We have a really odd relationship with fast food in this country.

People panic buying McDonald's as its closing temporarily. I've seen it all.

Probably the same people who were queuing outside Beshoffs yesterday.

How would the closing McDonald's affect the amount of beef been ate? People still eat.

Dr Holohan makes the very interesting point that if we succeed in flattening the curve, the restrictions go on a lot longer.....you're dragging out the pandemic duration so to speak

    Healthcare workers

    community transmission accounts for 45%,
    close contact accounts for 23%,

    travel abroad accounts for 31%

The first group is the dangerous one, most of the second category are family members of people who travelled.

They'll be watching the proportion in the first group, the latter can be dealt with by contact tracing.

Slightly different being at a drive thru, than in a queue beside a load of people

Shutdown needed now please. Get them clowns away from the beeches and tourist attractions

What is this hard on for a lockdown crap. Is people who were duped by the Whatts app and what the friends of friends were saying not what to admit it. They what to say look we said it would happen they had to wait the week due to it coming out.

What need to happen is have an influx of the gardai and the new recruits out and where these bathers are happening and break them up simples

More importantly all those people will now be heading to Lidl or Tesco to buy their dinner. Cue more stockpiling

He also said the demand is in the 10s of thousands per day so I'd imagine that 40k is a lot higher

how many actual recoveries so far from 1200 would be more interesting statistics to follow, given almost a month in surely we dont have 1200 active as good half would be in remission to recovered stage by now. since as stated its very unclear in each case when it was contracted and given that some can test positive days after it passes it skews entire count, to just keep adding cases if theres no monitoring in place to say how many get out each day.

    "seem" does not equal "were"

Do you have anything tangible to back you claim up or is this simply speculation on your part?

Self employed can't work from home

    Apologies.

I'm a bit pissed off as one of my colleagues has this evening rang in saying he has to self isolate until his test. Absolute no communication from both employer and main contractor about general proper practice.

Well the question about airports and what flights/nationalities will be allowed in will depend on how each country is in regard to the corona virus .. either way all people coming in would have to be self isolated ... regardless of whether we close down now or wait till loads are dying and the horse has bolted ..... this is still going to be the same case

True, and also banking on other positives like new drug treatments and understanding the virus more.
