Isnt there a company in Limerick that make them and that were reporting a few weeks ago that they have ramped up production in order to meet orders from china/asia. I'm sure the Gov/HSE are aware of that company and can place large orders with them if need be.

There are only so many contact tracers.

By having a 4 or 5 day delay they are working on tracing 2 or 3 times as many contacts. They can not do as good/deep a job.

Given that the HSE never had a use for any masks ever before, and probably don't have any supply lines in place or logistics, you should just go in there and sort it out for them so that everyone can have a mask and then they can stop "lying".

Personally i think this is very dangerous advice ( but I have no medical training). I have heard people quote this line to me, i think a lot of people will read it as we can be in close contact for less that 15 mins and its okay, but after 15mins you can become infected. Surely with any sort of close contact with an infected person i can get infected ?

Doing a roaring trade like they have over the weekend has downsides. i.e increased exposure. Statistically someone in that queue had it. The longer the queue the more likely that someone has it.

I guess you missed the short shrift I gave that post. People talk, they always do but the subset of those we should pay any attention to is really tiny.

why is there none of the numbers published how many recovered, given start the first cases should be well off, cant imagine this drags more then couple weeks in those who are healthy, so we should see even recovery rate by now, not just stacking those that test positive, if we have close to 1k at least 400 should be clear by now. so certainly a lag on reporting any positive stats.

Its not really ,

They have done brilliant to manage the amount of Tests they have already,

No one expected this and even if they did it be near impossible to get everyone tested straight away ,

Yesterday we had tested over 10 thousand people in a population of 4.8mil
UK had tested 50k in a population of 66 mil

Lets be real testing is going decently well ,

My husband is currently building a testing centre and isolation area for health care workers. Leave the builders alone for a little bit longer please people.

Well if they have been then why the fuk have the not even ordered or got protective gear for Hse staff !!! The most the majority of Hse staff have to protect themselves at moment is a pair of gloves!!

I think his advisor tony Holohan has downplayed the virus too much up to now which is exactly why at least half the country aren’t listening to the social distancing ... he should’ve advised a shut down last week... most working at home or unemployed at this stage anyways so might as well have closed the place down ... it will be enevitable in another week when scores of people come out as infected .... anyways I really hope I’m wrong about the last bit but ...

Its hard to know because the vast majority of confirmed people are not hospitalised , So there are recovering at home

I'm in construction and there is a lot of non-essential construction still going - it's not great - how are you supposed to socially distance on a 3ft wide scaffold?

I would prefer if we could keep our workers infection free so they can help build essentials.

Once it gets into the larger sites it will spread like wildfire anyway.

And who are you to decide? We live in a democracy. People should be able to decide for themselves. God help those people who listened to official guidelines about cervical screening and blood transfusions. People have a right to question stuff.

You don't get to call everyone uniformed cause the "CMO" said. His role in this just as much about the optics of it as I suspect yours is.

We don't need to reinvent the wheel in trying to solve it. Every country on the planet is facing this threat. Some handle better than others. Just cause CMO said so doesn't mean it's gospel.
