Anyone that has been tested, how do you find out your results? I was tested on Friday morning and haven't heard anything back. I was sure at the test centre they said my doctor would contact me with the results, so I rang my doctor and they seemed to think it would be someone else from the HSE. Thanks

My GP posted up on Facebook today that they find out after the patient. If it is a negative result, you'll receive a text message. If it is positive you will be phoned by a public health doctor.

Can't they drive you to the shops and you go in and get the shopping, not perfect but better than them going in.

I saw a graph on sky news yesterday and it had Spain and the UK on a higher case rate trajectory than both Italy and Wuhan. Spain was the worst.

Yes. And graph for USA is pretty shocking too!

    Test results

Your test sample will go to one of our labs for testing.

You will get your test results by text or phone from the testing service.

Patients who are most ill and in hospital are being prioritised so that they can get their results in 12 to 24 hours.

Most patients will get their results in about 5 days.

Continue to self-isolate while waiting for your test result.

I've just collected a shop order from my local shop after placing an order through my wife's Facebook page. Without a click and collect service, all small shops should be doing this. Even a text with a list would suffice. Shops are reservoirs for the virus, as we are the potential vectors bringing it in. Strict sanitising protocols of staff needed of course.

The Bank of Ireland also said that all of its branches will continue to provide an external ATM cash withdrawal service.

The shops also said there are plenty of stocks, people don't listen!

Get a grip yourself and stop posting "advice" that is contrary to official advice unless you are actually qualified to comment on it.

The official line that masks don't work, is dishonest. My reading comprehension is just fine, and my brain still works, so I'll research a topic and do my own thinking if those you call 'quallified' are being economical with the truth. And I will comment on said research and cogitations if I wish. Don't tell me what to post.

    Great username; very apt.

That was just one of several I can quote:

    https://www.ijidonline.com/article/S1201-9712(08)01008-4/fulltext

    https://annals.org/aim/fullarticle/744899/facemasks-hand-hygiene-prevent-influenza-transmission-households-cluster-randomized-trial

TLDR - you are wrong. Masks work, particularly P3 respirator style ones, if the user observes care in fitting and removal - washing their hasnds after touching the mask to remove it.

Im sure this has been answered before. Ive just read on facebook you should drink hot drinks ( tea coffee broths) also gargle with mouthwash like listerine. Is this reliable info

For quenching thirst and oral hygene, yes. For anything virus related, no.

Really its time for a proper lock down or at least the shut down of all non essential business.

I live beside the point venue where there are lots of offices being built.

Right now there are 100's of builders having their breakfast rolls during their morning break, all gathered in group of 6/7's chatting away as if nothing has changed. Moving from one group to another to say hello. The ignorance is just astounding. They will all go home after work now and bring whatever virus is there back to their houses and the people they live with.

There is no point in a partial shut down.

You are depending on a certain level of intelligence and responsibility, which just doesn't exist in this country I'm afraid.

Why is it that building work is still going on? Its far from vital...

Face masks are not 'known useless', quite the opposite. Governments have been peddling this deceit so as to stop panic buying and secure supply for health workers.

I agree with this the only reason we were told they don't work is because we don't have any here ,
There was been other stupid advice the government gave out such as you have to be in the company of a infected person for around 15 minutes ,
The original ski trip kids told to carry on with daily life unless they got symptoms .

Virus was circulating ‘before we were aware of the outbreak in China’, says Giuseppe Remuzzi, director of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research

    BoI

I don't get the panic over this, haven't been in a branch in years and now a lot of places are now accepting cash.

They have a bank card just use that everywhere.

Even better use phone payments (I know BOI are behind on this) but there's no €30 limit in most places (despite what assistants will say, and Tesco also need to change their policy) and you don't touch the keypad.

I think the Chinese action have worked up to now, dont know what will happen when they come out of lockdown. Also nobody know the full actions the Chinese took we know some of it but if half the rumours (Welding people into home, Mass incineration are just 2 of thing they are accused of doing) no western country would do.

The welding thing has been blown out of proportion
Any leaked videos posted via VPN by Chinese citizens say they welded some doors in buildings shut so that they were left with only one door in and out which could be monitored. Of course the resulting Fire hazard they created hasn’t been flagged. The important point is that most Chinese people were only too happy to stay at home.

Masks work / Masks don't work / Masks work / Masks don't work

It depends what you mean by "work" but they certainly *help

*By "help" I mean reduce risk of transmission in either or both directions

    Thank you Strawberry.

I will continue to self isolate. I know they are doing the best they can but this lag in testing is dangerous as it gives a false sense of the problem being under control and people will be more lax with their social encounters.
I developed symptoms on Sunday last week, got tested Friday. In my case I had been in Madrid with work and arrived home on Thursday morning. Cheltenham was still on and alot of that crowd wouldn't have arrived home until Fri or Sat. It is likely that wave hasn't hit our official numbers yet.

I know someone who works in a small branch. They said a fella came in on Friday looking to change up a 50 euro note. She asked them why. He was from the north and said he wanted it broken down so he could get a taxi later back to his caravan. She bluntly told him had he not seen any news this last month and that EVERYTHING is closed.
She wouldn’t take the note either.

Too right they should protect their workers. Fecking idiots everywhere.

I wish people would stop saying this is an Irish thing, it's a people thing. Look at videos of UK in supermarkets and streets yesterday, look at Bondi Beach, I posted a link yesterday of packed markets in The Netherlands.

I would actually argue that Irish people are taking this more serious than other countries.

In relation to the builders, they should no better but I also blame the employers for not imposing proper restrictions on their staff.

They are going with the medical advice on this and they say wait for a week or so more to see how the measures are working. A full lockdown is not sustainable for any great length of time.

Would it take much resources though, to issue fines? They could employ the traffic corps.
