"Lied to the world about this virus for a long time".

Right now, I'm not a fan of China or their practices and their wet markets and I'm certainly not going to defend them here. There's a few things that don't sit well with me. I don't think they lied about this virus for a long time. My understanding is that some people started showing up in hospitals in December showing signs of chest problems and pneumonia. It was in January when it was discovered that there's a new virus with a new pathogen. They really didn't have a long time to lie to the world about this virus.

It is my belief they have covered up an enormous amount. Not only did they build a hospital in 7 days but they also brought in 40 animal incinerators, capable of disposing of up to 30 bodies a day, and set them up right beside the hospitals. They also kept the "business as usual" mantra going well into the epidemic. We'll never know the true figures from there but you can take it as being a significant multiple of what they've released.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

From my own landing the few that got out were all near to the end of their sentence anyway, things like a few weeks left, maybe a couple of months at most. One had a medical condition. None of them in for violent crime. All of them with exemplary disciplinary records. Age didn't seem to be a factor.

That 14 day shift option is quite clever but for it to work the 14 days off would have to be in pretty much close to self isolation. Are there any ongoing plans to monitor staff as they come on shift?

Had lung issues growing up and then stupidly smoked for 8 or 9 years.

I have lung issues also so good chance I’d be a goner too... watched videos of healthy young people with the disease online and unable to breath... gasping like it’s their dying breath... scary.

Thing that annoys me though is that these healthy young people out there socializing aren’t even aware or bothered to inform themselves of this danger of causing life long damage to themselves

Politician tested for coronavirus after contact with RTÉ case

Why all the bloody secrecy in this country? This disease could be at your doorstep but due to GDPR you'll never know!
What's secretive about this country in particular? GDPR is European.

Much as I find 2 abreast cyclists annoying, its the safest place at the moment. If they are following the rear cyclist is breathing in the front cyclists exhaled breath.

If its that contagious then nobody should be working or spending time with anyone indoors at all unless they are self isolating together. If a cyclists breath can spread it in the open air.

It's not, it's business as usual, you just haven't noticed it 'till now.

He made a good point but he lost the run of himself with the whole lettuce thing. And the timing probably wasnt great because that was the day of the big jump in numbers and confirmation of the 3rd death

Actually the idea of planting a few seeds and growing some food at home is a good one.

It's the ultimate in low food miles and you are sure it is safe.

Also a good chance to show kids how easy it is to grow food.

Where as on the 9 news tonight I saw the Irish health minister smirk when saying he sees people here haven’t been taking the advice staying at home.

Some people just love to get a dig in, don’t they?

Harris has been working every hour of every day for the last couple of weeks to try to get the message across to people.

But sure he ‘smirked’ on the news. Apparently. He’s no Putin

Does anyone wake up in the morning and feel like they have the fear?

    Every single day....

I have been able to keep my own panic at bay up to now but I can feel myself losing my grip on it.

I hope they find a light at the end of the tunnel soon. Extraordinary times, it really does feel like a waking nightmare.

Do you think Leo do not polarise opinion? Merkel? Putin? Boris? Obama? You?
You cant please everyone mainly if you are in leading position.
This Trump obsession is getting really tiresome.

    Yes and no.

I've always been a clean freak (I've always washed my hands every hour or two since I was a kid) so in that sense, I'm not worried about contracting it that way or through my own actions

I am worried about gombeens potentially spreading it around.
I am worried about commuting to work tomorrow on a bus and God only knows who has been on that.

Jaysus Mickey D's is closing from tomorrow night? We really are going into the deep freeze. When you see otherwise self serving businesses doing this without being made to by government, you know you're in trouble for the long haul.

I'm not obsessed with Trump but I can say I don't have any respect for his brand of politics.

    Live with it.

Do they dis-infect the buses? and how often, I have pictures of teams dis-infecting public transport in Korea with back packs etc.
