You do realise that the other people at the ships are probably saying the same about you?

It's boring at this stage the amount of "I went somewhere and everyone was out, why aren't they at home?" posts..

Hopefully that scares some younger people into wising up, and indicates it isn't just old people that is can kill. Pretty tragic.

they'll all then be updating their facebook profile pics and holding candlelight vigils and wondering why nobody told them they could die

Irrelevant to my point. We have 40,000 people awaiting tests because we have relaxed the criteria for tests. I couldn't get tested just last week with a fairly heavy cold, or flu.
    Relaxed criteria?

    HSE website today,
    ...
    if you have symptoms,

'Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. The GP will assess you over the phone. If they think you need to be tested for coronavirus, they will arrange a test.

AFAIK they only removed the known contact country criteria.

Just back from a lap around the Wicklow mountains on the motorbike. Jaysis Ive never seen it so packed up there, the Wicklow gap is normally pretty quiet even on sunny days but today there was cars strewn all along the road for hundreds of metres. Gardai had closed down the car parks in Glendalough so Im guessing they all just headed up that way instead. People were having BBQs and picnics at the side of the road, Glenmacnass waterfall was absolutely mobbed with a traffic jam to get into the car park there. Sally Gap was the same and it didnt quieten down till I peeled off at the crossroads at the top and headed for home.

We're in for a summer of discontent.

    Not true.
I was out in Liffey valley and plenty of places still open sports direct, Argos, garden places.

I wasn't in any btw just at drive thru.

Obviously we're taking it a lot more seriously down here in Cork so. Loads of places have closed.

I was at the beach. Stayed at least two metres away from everyone bar my family as did everybody I saw there. Is this wrong?

I drove from Fanore to Doonbeg looking for a quite place for a surf.

Fanore, Lahinch, Spanish point was like an August Bank Holiday weekend.

The beach at trumps had around 50 cars lined along the road entrance, I avoided that place too I know I know trump and avoidance etc but there was families there with other families and they not giving a sh1t about distance.

Went down a windy dirty potholed road and found a hidden beach and only one van and two people.

What the fck is wrong with people,

A lot of places are closed, the vast vast majority of restaurants, but still some shops.
I think it should just be essentials at this stage
Tbh most places are likely pretty empty anyway

It will be interesting to see how far we go on testing. Assuming that 15000 a day comes to pass we could test most of the population inside a month.

I'm probably a bit slow here but you know the way there are 700+ cases of C19 confirmed to date. What about those that got it but have now come out clear at the other end.Are those cases deducted from the total number?

I have 3 young kids aged 7,6 and 2.5 we need to get out but I'm going in big open areas when we are such as woods and trails and even the kids the 2.5 year old now keeps her distance from people. I have a pregnant wife who is riddled with severe morning sickness so I'm torn but I cant have 3 kids in the house all day.

I bring them out in the morning and we play in the garden in the afternoon. I've not had them near a shop and only I go out for small bits and essentials.

Cant understand why large groups of people are getting away with congregating without any notice of the sacrafice others are going through.

My kids have not seen their friends now in 3 weeks, their grand parents in the same.

Why is there no vaccine for SARS, its because funding was pulled because it died out and nobody needed it. Plus it was 18 years ago, we are 1000s of times more progressed than back then.

Maybe... maybe not. I guess we'll find out over the next few months!

Plenty of researchers still study SARS. It hasn't been forgotten about.

Optimism is important, particularly at times like these... but so is realism too! :)

Having up to 50 centres available does not make it quite so staggering. Even 200 a day per centre is 1/4 of that and 300 a day from 30 centres now open is more or less the same.

    IF they had testing kits.

IF the capacity was there to run the tests.

The 40,000 waiting to be tested is a MULTIPLE of those already tested. These people have been self isolating and are still waiting on tests, 4 to 5 days later. No wonder the figures haven't went up the anticipated percentage.

How many people are ordering tests because they have a slight sore throat or a headache or whatever? Are tests being prioritized if people have a fever, serious cough and are those people going to the same test Centre's as those that may be a bit paranoid and thereby putting themselves in more danger of catching it?

18, but with an underlying condition. It cannot be stressed enough that the underlying condition is what is key here, not the age.

    RIP nonetheless, horrifically tragic.

Is that the fatality from the East? Some talk of a fatality also in the South (Kerry)

About 6000 cases just got taken away from the US total. Was it misreporting before or double counting?

How was worldometer off by that many cases? I get it happens but I am curious what exactly happened.

Kits will not be a problem. They are working on a deal for 100K kits from China every week. Labs stuff I don't know how quickly they can turn it around but they may add more labs to the network.
