    Language is important:

Boris: stay at home if you possibly can. Surely he could have said something like: Stay at home. Do not leave your home unless you have no other choice, e.g. you work for nhs, or you will loose your job.

    Yes language is important.

If the directions are unequivocal then scapegoating mobs will feel that they're justified in any amount of personal anger or even violence against people who they 'feel' shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets.

Exactly, the Brit bashing is ridiculous. They are doing what they outlined they would at the start. Luckily we are going the completely different route of cocooning in the coming weeks.

We are going to have to do an awful lot more due to their serious inaction which was a financial decision not a health one.

The UK Chief Scientific Adviser said of deaths "if we can get this down to numbers 20,000 and below that is a good outcome". FFS. They have no idea what they have in the system.

Not that surprising is it? She hasn`t tested positive herself, not yet anyway.

    She was boozing yesterday.

I see so much idiots shopping around wearing gloves. Am I the only one who sees that as a complete waste. The shopping trolley they push around could have the virus on the handle and you're only transferring what's on the trolley to what you touch and buy.

But, that would be the same if you weren't wearing gloves...

    No difference

I think we have a fair chance that this virus will not survive the Summer months. Long hours of sunshine and warmer temperatures should make an impact in killing it off.
Not certain of course just my gut.

If nothing else they will be much less colds and flu around and it will be easier to identify it
Hopefully. African and south Asian and middle eastern countries (well apart from Iran) don't seem to have an issue (yet).

In went out for a solo cycle down by Enniskerry this morning. I was quite stunned at the number of people there and Powerscourt. A tailback into Kilmacnogue on the Long Hill, and the filling station was very busy. I assume it was not an emergency fuel stop, most likely coffee, ice-cream, chocolates etc.

If this keeps up, a rule like they have in Germany now (limit to 2 person from same family outside together)

No, it was updated to 29 earlier today.

Does Ireland have 29 in ICU from CV? That's some jump and you can knock me down with a feather right now. It was 13 the other day.

Angela Merkel gone into quarantine after a doctor treating her tested positive.

She might not be infected and I hope she's not. She was probably asked to isolate herself in case she shows symptoms.

Usual mushroom treatment, the number of new centres is irrelevant, except for convenience.

How many tests can we process per day, what is the number of backlogged cases, and when will we get to same day processing.

Excellent work everyone, keep it up.

If we can get through stupid Italian rugby match and stupid Cheltenham figures working through, we may just get a handle on this bastard.

    Just a question
People thinking that the milder sunnier weather will kill this virus?
Is it not Summer in Australia?
How is the virus doing there?

Its 29 degrees in Kuala Lumpar.

The have 1306 cases. 123 new ones today.

No it won't kill it. Both hemispheres are affected.

    Another death :(

121 additional cases. Testing to ramp up to 4,500 per day from tomorrow, up from 2,000 per day previously. You'd expect more cases with more than double the testing.

A lot of parts of Iran, including Tehran, would be quite cold between January and March.

Merkel now isolated, Doctor who treated her had virus.

    WTF

Don't know if Europe can handle the prospect of losing Merkel, say what you want about her policies in 2015 and the consolidation of EU power to a centralised point, she's one of the good ones.

    Because people are undisciplined.

It's a necessary temporary ask. People continuing on as normal will be indirectly responsible for deaths.

Yes, so waste of gloves. Would people think they're safe wearing the gloves and not wash their hands after taking off the gloves?

in italy maybe not here, we have so little actual cases that its irrelevant in grand scheme worldwide, and for some reason given almost 4 months dont think its due because someone said lets give kids a holiday and close pubs 2 weeks before, as life for most is pretty much the same, some distancing but not much of hysteria outdoors like here online.

Great news and most new cases are now contracted in households. It looks like we are getting control of this,

Because there are still members of our society who continue to behave irresponsibility and not taking the precautions to slow the spread
