He was obviously more of a risk to her, if she was older as reported.

And what does not having the "right to act out on them" mean, that she should say nothing?

Whole thing is probably a fantasy anyway.

Mild doesn't mean staying in bed. Mild symptoms doesn't mean you will be off your feet for a few days even. If you call and "reported" mild symptoms, a box is ticked for a person reporting mild symptoms but there is no scale within that box. 80% will barely notice it, those that do notice it and those that have been reported as being hospitalised for it, are starting to recover. Any new reported cases needs to be seen in this context.
Varadker said vast majority will be at worst a mild illness.

Mild symptoms and asymptomatic are very different things.

Honestly. I can’t comprehend the mentality that would either do what he did or defend it.

I have young sons and I’d be so disappointed in them and myself for raising them if I thought they’d behave like this to anyone under today’s circumstances.

Almost 40 deaths in Indonesia and just 450 confirmed cases, likely a huge number going undetected in that country.

The Dutch are making a mess of this.

Very complacent attitude about everything over there.

"The Dutch government issued an NL-Alert with an “extreme warning” status on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., ordering people to keep a distance of 1.5 meters from each other, and to stay home if they have even a slight cold. The warning was sent to mobile phones around the country, with growing reports of thousands of people flocking to popular good-weather areas like the North Sea coast, wilderness paths, and nature areas."

"The country normally has 1,150 ICU beds, roughly 6.61 per 100,000 residents, of which half are normally used in emergencies, and 225 are used for elective care, including scheduled surgeries. Hospitals have suspended planned care to free up as many beds as possible, while Health Minister Hugo de Jonge says another 350 ICU space are able to be quickly made available."

According to Brendan O'Connor show, Wicklow County Council are closing car parks (and food outlets) at Glendalough due to 'social distancing issues'.

I had an argument with a person about this ,state funded state owned and a tourist attraction.
It should have been shot a week ago.
You can't blame people going , the management of it were Prue greedy on this .
I'm from Wicklow originally and know a person on the committee who look after it, they made a conscious decision to keep the area open.
They will now try and blame the local authorities.

People have every right to tell others to keep a proper distance and they should not be forced to move because of the delinquency of others.

I think the issue may be something I noticed more than once yesterday, people holding back TWO designated spaces. That's just being silly. Move up to your proper space.

    Fucking Awesome

AN IRISH man who attended the Cheltenham racing festival two weeks ago has tested positive for Covid-19.

The man - who is based in the south - is not seriously ill and has not
    required hospitalisation.

However, he has been told to remain in strict self-isolation.

"How fúcking dumb and selfish do you feel right now?"

No one will ask it though.

Boats should have been turned around and sent back as a gift to the moronic British government who kept these gatherings going.

It's not scaremongering and it's not tripe, I'm trying to put some perspective on the "Ah sure most people only get a mild case" narrative with a reminder of what "mild" actually means in clinical terms for this disease. We had it laid out for us in very factual terms already but people seem to have either forgotten or intentionally ignored it.

If people hear "mild" and think "Ah I'll risk heading down to see my folks for the day that's in it" then perhaps a stark reminder of what the risks are might make them think twice.

It stands to reason that if people will have varying degrees of illness, they will suffer varying degrees of damage to the respiratory system.
There will probably be some mild and some serious repercussions to contracting it

Is there any indication that Ireland will close its borders, especially to the UK? I believe the UK is going to be one of the worst affected countries (densely populated, poorly handled) yet we have no restrictions on movement from this much larger country on our doorstep.

Just now in the local LIDL I saw some owl one telling a young lad to stand back. He replied by telling her to move forward or leave the shop. She shut her gob and moved forward. Pandemic or not, nobody has the right to boss people around. Some people like the woman here think the situation gives them the right to be rude. Spoiler alert, it doesent. I gave the young lad a thumbs up in the car park for his troubles, legend.

I gather you think the kid was right here? He looks like the bossy and rude one to me. The instruction is 2m apart. Its not that hard and you wont get to check out any faster by herding up to the person ahead. Some people continue to do so.

The 'owl' (sic) one [=oul, or better 'old lady'] obviously felt he was standing too close. Dont you understand that she has more to loose than this immature kid you describe as a 'legend'. The kid is a fool, and most probably has problems doing what he is asked, or told. In that regard, he is a legend alright. We dont need his type of legend at the moment.

Yes, better comparison but I notice that Norway has no deaths yet.
Indeed, Norway has a population of approx 5 milllion.
    Cases today: 2219 (7)

"A total of 135 people were being treated in Norwegian hospitals on Friday, up from 102 on Thursday and 68 on Wednesday, a near doubling in the past two days. A total of 33 Corona patients were being treated in intensive care. Seven people have died so far.

A total of 43,735 people had been tested for the virus in Norway as of Friday morning March 20. That ranks as among the highest testing rates per capita in the world"

While that might be a little annoying it really won't slow up the queue to any great extent.

The person doing it might be of a nervous disposition or suffer from ODC.

Let's not sweat the small stuff while we try to get through this.

177 patients in hosptial with covid. Of the 177, 29 in ICU as of last night.

The week coming is a big one for the health service

People say that now but it is presumably a violation of the GFA to close the borders with Britain, which would involve a border on the island.

Not much Ireland could do when the UK continued to not isolate, or self distance.

So we have gone from 6 to 29 confirmed in ICU in how many days? 2?

That describes the nature of the issue perfectly.

For those talking about 80% mild cases, the actual line given is "mild to MODERATE", and moderate can involve being pretty ill.

Good work again by the HSE, the number of beds particularly.

We were lucky this didnt hit us first, of course. We have seen Italy.

Hope I'm not repeating what others have said.
Just back from my local Dunnes stores. Well managed small queue outside waiting for entry. Inside the door a table with anti-bacterial spray, plastic gloves and rolls of tissue. I sprayed the trolley handle, wiped it dry and wore gloves whole time.
Thin well spread crowd inside and fully stocked shelves. No sense of urgency let alone panic. No queues at the checkout.
    I was impressed.
I understand this is replicated elsewhere and with other stores.
If so it's another example of how we Irish adjust in a wonderful way to difficult times without a fuss.
Compare the UK headlines about how British spirits of WW2, blitz, etc is highlighted in their papers as how they'll get through this while in reality much of the population runs amok in supermarkets with a totally selfish approach.

The video of the Spanish doctor saying that respirators were being taken from over 65 s and given to younger patients was very sad. The over 65s were sedated and died.

I heard that my local Tesco was mobbed and sold out of everything.
I was therena few minutes later. Loads of stock toilet roll, meat, bread, etc.
There was more people there I think I waited less that 5 minutes in a queue.
The guy was just desperate for attention to get likes.
