Ok,I'll indulge you. Below is offical advice I have found in relation to wearing of facemasks.

    HSE

    CDC

    WHO

    Dutch Health Ministerie

So please find me official advice that people should wear face masks?
Given spread by asymptomatics, mild symptom cases, logically everyone not infected and recovered should wear a mask to prevent spread.

BUT not sufficient production, supply chain constraints, incorrect handling and disposal of masks by untrained individual.

Plus complacency in belief that mask will protect wearer leading to renewed social bunching and lax hygiene.

So they would work if a video was circulated on how to properly put on and take off? Its pure contradiction regarding masks

    No because people are idiots

Don’t know how to get this into people’s heads and how serious it could get , the amount of people on some of my WhatsApp groups going for days out tomorrow or birthday parties tomorrow night.
Pull them up on it and most have quoted today’s numbers being down on yesterday and saying numbers are being to fall and we are over the worst of it ... brain dead fools
Gosh that's unbelievable hopefully they will wise up.
Out of interest what is the age range?

Health workers adhere to the right protocols putting them on and taking them off and change them regularly disposing of them properly. The general public does not know how to do this and could be constantly readjusting once for comfort thereby providing themselves no protection

That is such a weak argument. Some people on here have gone from masks don't work to people are too stupid to use masks.

Like I said early a quick youtube video will show anyone how to use a mask

All I'm saying is in my opinion the fact that they don't think a full lockdown is necessary suggests an inkling of positivity.

Yup and the moderate social distancing projections does factor in all the goms not adhereing to it. What do we reckon are we 50% compliant?

Surely masks would be appropriate PPE for people who work in supermarkets or airport's where staff will be in close contact with people that have it?

If this was any other country the answer would be yes. However HSE says they don’t really work and you shouldn’t buy them because healthcare workers need them.

They are far too complicated to put on your face without contaminating yourself so don’t bother trying.

Also if you see someone wearing one you should say “what’s your problem, are you a doctor or something?”

The cases were lower today for 2 reason folks,

    1. They were running low on testing kits and just recieved more kits yesterday

    2. Paddys day would create a lag.

Would love if it was declining but thats not the case im afraid.

They will have to leave the Euro IMO.

Which would achieve what? They could devalue the lira and have no ability to feed the population? You can at least print Euro within the scale of the Eurozone without drastically impacting inflation as the currency is a reference value and is huge and there's a massive internal market with most goods/services readily available in that € currency.

Once you get down to smaller currencies you're into risk of hyperinflation and lass of spending power, and because supply chains are global and complex, that means you'd end up with loss of ability to supply basic goods and services.

So is the third death not the woman whos family member tweeted about it? Thought that woman said she had COPD, or am i misremembering?

Either the third death did have an underlying condition, or else they still haven't recorded that death/it wasn't actually COVID 19....
    Or am i missing something?

The UK are now ahead of us in shutting gyms etc

I'd seriously question the intelligence of anyone who went to a gym in the last few weeks. Our neighbour is a week behind us on practically everything else which may yet come back to bite them. There is no way that Northern Ireland is still in double digit figures, the seriously need to ramp up testing.

Exactly what I was thinking! It seems that positivity or hope of any sort is not allowed in the thread where dreams come to die. I swear there are people subconsciously relishing the stats, constant updates every millisecond about how screwed we all are

You seem to have a low opinion of someone who’s life may well depend upon putting them on and off properly. Nothing like the fear of death to focus the mind in accomplishing a task.

100% I was floored for over a week and if it was now I'm sure I'd have been tested. Got my flu shot in october as well.

I had the cough for at least 2 weeks after the fatigue had gone.

Testing for antibodies should sort out whether it was or not. My bet is it was regular influenza.

People struggling to understand why others can't get it into their heads how serious this could be/could get...

I see it this way...Despite the warnings and the terrible diseases and deaths it causes on a yearly basis, most people only quit smoking when they actually see or feel the damage it is doing to you. It doesn't matter what their family, friends, health authorities say or even the cigarette packets say...

In other words, they'll take it seriously when it's on their doorstep
