went to the hardware store just now for supplies. the young girl at the counter, maybe about 18-20 years old was well trained. line 2 metres in front of the till. she told me to leave the trolley there and go through to other side, another 2 metres behind the till. she checked everything through, then left the card machine on the counter. she backed off, i approached and paid. both of us were wearing gloves. we never came within 2 metres of each other entire process.

Chinese figures, please compare like with like, people keep making a very basic error, the total population of a country is irrelevant, the relevant population is that % which realistically have the potential to be infected.

Also the number confirmed is not comparable as it is subject to just too many variable.

Isolation, travel bans, and ruthlessly stamping stamping out the sparks hitting other population centres reduces the latter % significantly, as in may have done in China's case.

Wuhan has a population of ~11M and Hubei ~60M, so Wuhan is about 18.33%. China ~1400M

Huebei v Lombardy

Hubei/China 60M/1428M = 4.20% of population of China (2017).
Lombardy/Italy 10.04M/60.48M =16.60% (2018).

Extent Hubei 185,900 km²/China 9.59 M km² = 1.9%

When it became a serious issue in Italy it should have become a much bigger issue here. I still know people travelling to Britain and back and still carrying on as normal. Those travelling to Cheltenham and anfield did so when it was known that it was serious and could hamper efforts here

Sorry but what did you expect? The projection was 15k by the end of the month, now we may or may not reach 15k, we dont know yet.

Our ICU numbers are still quite low and the vast majority are at home and not in hospital.

Also I think most peoples daily routines are an awfully lot different in the last week since social distancing began. People cant seem to get over the fact that these new case are all infected prior to social distancing

Woman in work has brought her 12 year old son into work the last few days as she has no one to mind him, stupid people like her all over the country will result in a full lockdown at some point. Many people are adhering to the guidelines but there's a few who simply don't care. ****.

I haven't gone near a shop since Monday as people are just so ignorant of the SD guidelines but you're seen as the asshole when you give someone standing a hairs breadth away a dirty look.

Boils my blood.
