Like its a target that must be achieved...

Honestly in a week it will be much higher.

Hopefully people don't start to become complacent because it's not the magic 30% number

Why won't she have some sense?

She needs to do something to restore our confidence

I don't understand why people are so happy with today's results, 74 is a 25%. It may not be a 30% increase but it would be unlikely to get an exactly 30% increase everyday.

Happy enough that the critical cases haven't increased, hopefully they don't jump up going forward although the last question tonight suggested we might have a 3rd fatality.

CMO says number of contacts that contact tracer are being told about has reduced

This is so important, and should give us motivation to persist with our efforts to adjust how we live. Less contacts, less infection. This can be gotten under control.

If it does not hit 15,000 by then I will be ecstatic.

It would signify we have a chance to weather the storm.

If the amount of new cases per day only increased by 7% every day
To be clear, that is NOT to say an increase of 7% per day, but an increase in the rate of increase of 7% per day.. think acceleratrion, m/s^2 etc)
We would have just 1782 cases on 30th March not 15000
And 4972 cases on 11th April not 202,000

We are looking at a worse case scenario of 50% of all healthcare workers been out of work due to contact with patients with coronavirus in the next week. Things are bad.

Are you still standing over this from 4 days ago?

If you look at the numbers per 1 million of population we are actually high enough.
    17th yesterday.
Ahead of the UK, USA and one behind South Korea.

And it's only the beginning. Now is the time to double down efforts. Enact the closedowns we have seen in France, Italy and Spain

32nd today but it's a pointless stat with Sam Marino and Vatican City 1st and 2nd. Plus the percentage of the population tested varies hugely by country.

Exactly , it could possibly be 35% tomorrow bringing it back into line with the projected daily 30% climb,
Or we could have a few low days and then a spike for a few days

I wonder is the high % of cases in those under 44 related to skiing trips and people who got it as a result of travelling?

If you look at it this way. We're up 74. Pop 4.8million.

    UK pop is 68 million.

So it would mean an increase of 1,048 ppl today in the UK per head of pop. Very scary. Italy figures 12 days ago.

The UK actually went up 676 today.

So was the 15,000 number if we did **** all and opened what's closed now then ?
Something like that, basically if we little or nothing it is a potential total. Social distancing is huge in this followed by achieving high levels of contact tracing.

That's wonderful but not how it works unfortunately. Increased testing will increase cases.

He's scaremongering. Leo, Honohan and Harris get together for a few pints every night and have a good snigger about how they scared the sh1t out of 4.9 million people that day.

Wouldn't say its scaremongering from Leo but I'd say they want to put the fear into everyone so that they follow the instructions.

They said that of the 271 cases, 42% are travel related, 22% came about because of community transmission, 17% are as a result of local transmission and 20% remain under investigation

Anyone else think this virus has been on the go a lot longer. There was a nasty bug doing the rounds around december and January with all the covid symptoms.
