What would your recommendations be for more trusted sources?

HSE. They have a long history of telling the truth and not concealing anything.

A good few Schmits probably done that, along with the occasional Saxe Coburg.

That they are Irish by nationality. What a daft comparison. Seriously like. Unless you think ‘nationality’ can’t be defined?

    Spanish Flu
    Hong Kong Flu
    Asian Flu
    Brisbane Flu

But Wuhan or Chinese Flu is definitely not Ok?

Exactly, totally wrong cause it came from the states...

The Italian figures of cases have to be way off. 35,000 confirmed cases but only a 17% increase today which is comparatively good news.

Given that Varadkar is saying we will have 15,000 by the end of the month, and 35,000 has completely overwhelmed the Italian health care system, something is very wrong considering we have 8% of the population of Italy (and therefore a health system with 8% of the capacity).

35,000 cases in Italy would be equivalent to 2,800 cases here (in terms of health service pressure)

There must have been between 250,000 and 500,000 cases in Italy, it's the only way these numbers can make any sense.
Correct. The only reason for the drop is the lack of testing kits. And yes, multply that 35,000 by at least 10. That Alpen ski lodge has a lot to answer for.

That doesn’t answer my question. What properties of the virus make it Chinese? Viruses don’t have a nationality, as anyone with more than two brain cells knows. What classifies the virus as Chinese?

    China not the origin no?

It's still stupid to call it a Chinese virus but at the same time, they could stop eating all that wet meat of questionable origins.

There's a sh1t tonne of cases in Australia considering they have relatively high temperatures. I'm starting to think this "higher temperatures" line is fake news.

I havent seen any reputable source mention that high temp would help!

It was simply a theory based on the fact that the ordinary flu dies off during the summer.

They were hoping it might happen with covid19 but time will tell.

"They haven’t changed track at all. They are implementing measures at the rate that suits them, as they made clear from the outset.

But how does any of this undermine what the Irish government is doing? "

Are you officially employed to do PR for the British Government by any chance?
You must be with your line that they are implementing measures at the rate that suits them. They have realised they made a mess of it with their approach,
So they have changed by tack, by now adopting measures advised by the WHO and other leading experts in the field of infectious diseases, which we and other nations have already been doing. The UK Government is now playing catch up, because the "Science has changed". I know you are so blinkered Aegir that you'll continue to protest to the contrary, and insist anyone criticising the Uk Governments handling of this could only be anti brexit and looking to score points, because you can't accept that people might just be annoyed by the UK's cock up of this crisis.

So no hint of actually pointing out where this undermines the Irish approach then, or showing us how and where the U.K. government cocked this up, it is just a case of “they didn’t close the schools when we did, so they’ve cocked this up”

    Good work, keep it up.

Did anyone else LOL last night when Leo told us to get our information only from trusted sources such as the government, W.H.O. and the news media? Three of the most untrustworthy news sources :)

    No.

If I were cynical, I'd say quite a few countries aren't telling the complete truth.

Well the Chinese certainly were not. They literally locked people away when it got to the 9% that it is pushing right now.

Russians have been very quiet all the same. Presume their health system is not fantastic. Only a matter of time before it gets out that there numbers are high. The numbers reported are a mystery given their geographic position etc.

Just see on worldometers that the death rate for closed cases has jumped up again and is now at 10%.

Do you think this is due to Italy cases or is this the reality if a China reaction is not taken?

    Very worrying.

If the Chinese government said it was raining right now outside my house, I'd go outside to confirm it rather than believe them.
