I take it the Leaving and Junior Certs are not taking place here in Ireland, like in the UK.
In the UK, they plan to let the teachers mark up the students on their years work and give them their grades.
But imagine if you were being graded by a teacher who hated your guts.
I say this because I remember when I was at school, my history teacher hated my guts and in all the class exams I always got poor results D's and C-'s , but then in the leaving cert I got an A in honours History.
    It happens.

Nothing decided yet as far as I know. Had a text from school today telling kids not to heed social media rumours - school will inform parents if and when a decision is made.

Exactly. I was labelled as almost being excited just because I’d ask on updates for numbers...it’s a complete overreaction numpty response..

There's a sh1t tonne of cases in Australia considering they have relatively high temperatures. I'm starting to think this "higher temperatures" line is fake news.

It might relate to moisture. I saw a reference where someone thought the virus could survive on a surface in droplets, but would quickly denature and die when they dried up - which fits with the lasting on cold metal surfaces for 28 days thing as such surfaces tend to be nearly perpetually damp from moisture condensation from the air. The virus can survive in the watery human body at 37.4°C, in fact it finds that temperature ideal, that's why you get a temperature - to make it less ideal.

I heard a good explanation on this from that Irish lad on the WHO panel.

Apparently there's nothing inherently seasonal about the seasonal flu. It's just as capable of transmitting during the warmer months.
The seasonality of virus is caused by our behaviour - heading outdoors more in warmer months, and huddled together inside during the colder.

I guess the exact same is true of covid, it's just much more contagious because we have zero immunity to it.
I also suspect the nature of transmission - a dry cough - makes it more transmittable in general.
