I think if your a small cafe or restaurant that can move around table for social distancing and not do reservations I say you could stay open but then you will have people give out that they are staying open I suppose. People still need to eat

Indeed. If delivery/carry-out food services were done properly they shouldn't be a significant risk but there's no way of ensuring that...

Tbf we had people flocking to Cheltenham , going on holidays to area's known to be infected, and crowding into pubs so we are not the brightest bunch.

Our health system still has to deal with other illnesses lets not forget that someone admitted to hospital with the virus wont be in the same ward as someone who is recovering from a heart attack so our retired health workers will fit in there perfectly also have nursing units which cant have the virus entering it so thats another place they can be deployed

To stop this - simply close airports and ports and then self isolate for 1 - 2 months which will eventually solve the whole issue

Fact is we have only had 2 deaths.

When this rises, and, sadly, it will, it will sink in and then , in hindsight,
we will all say they should have done more.

Our health care workers and first responders are preparing for a tsunami of patients in the near future.

They may be working ridiculous hours in incredibly stressful situations and facing a real danger to their lives. They are our front line in this battle against this virus.

If you know any health workers give them a friendly smile or a wave, just to let them know you appreciate them.

Better still offer to do their shopping… they may not be able to get to the shops at times before the hoarders have stripped the shelves. They may even be too exhausted to go shopping.

You might even consider reaching out to them and say, 'look, if you need us to come over and watch the kids for you so you can work a shift at the hospital, then we're happy to do that'.

It's just a way of really trying to help them out because at the end of the day they are the ones that are trying to keep us and our family members stay safe.

We don’t need to know were the cases are.
People should just assume it’s going around and could be everywhere. There is obviously way more that have it than the official numbers.

You don’t just get sick, get tested immediately, and get entered into the official numbers.

People can carry it for days before showing symptoms. Tests take time to process.

Even if there was zero confirmed cases in your town, it doesn’t mean nobody has it.

So stop worrying about exactly were it is.
I also think it will be a good thing when the numbers start flying up. People will panic more and stop doing the silly things they’re currently doing.

Excellent resource that is tracking the genetic mutations of the virus (tiny changes that may occur from person to person).

From a lay perspective, it seems that one of the main findings is multiple introduction events in a given country.

I agree with most of this post but if you're reaching the point where you're on the verge of berating someone for standing too close to you you ought to avoid supermarkets.
For what it's worth, I think the 1.5 metre away thing probably isn't as significant as touching items that other people have touched before you (again, impossible to avoid in a supermarket) or being 6 metres away from someone coughing. But don't quote me on that, I'm not a scientist.
