Original French source for NSAID/ibuprofen/Nurofen effects on severity (Le Figaro; use Google translate).

    https://www.lefigaro.fr/sciences/coronavirus-alerte-sur-l-ibuprofene-et-autres-anti-inflammatoires-20200314

Real-time observational evidence takes a while to meet 'proper' evidence threshold and make it into official guidance. This virus was only discovered in December.

Self-medicating with the over-the-counter drugs that people have been stockpiling will do nothing to 'cure' them of the virus or improve their survival chances (in the unlikely event that an individual has severe infection).

Self-medicating, based on this French evidence, may cause harm to infected people.

Fever is a symptom, not a disease. Any self-medicating advice from health professionals such as 'take paracetamol' is purely to relieve discomfort. https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/fever-in-adults2

Reposting as UK CMO/CSO advising to avoid ibuprofen, and HSE too (although wording is currently ambiguous).

It will cost them billions to relocate back. Why havent they done it before now if this is the case. Why trump needed to bring this up now I dont know.
One word - re-election! He wants an instant cure or to give the impression that he personally is working on one!

Yes. However they are private companies so likely have to honour exciting contracts on manufacturing and providing.

If the situation carries on into the summertime will the increase in temperature make a difference. I'd be more worried then as having to sit inside during high temperatures is going to be very uncomfortable for people and would make them more likely to spend time outdoors.

No evidence at all that temperature affects the virus.

CONCLUSION People with blood group A have a significantly higher risk for acquiring COVID-19 compared with non-A blood groups, whereas blood group O has a significantly lower risk for the infection compared with non-O blood groups.

    :(:(:(

From the Medrxiv link earlier. (I'm A) :(

What about Elvis, from 1979? He did a good job on that one.

Medtronic in Galway assemble 50% of the worlds ventilators. They don't make the parts though.

I don't envy anyone with family in a home. I'm not criticising care homes, but no matter how good they are it plays on the mind that the care is outside your direct control. You have to place your trust in the staff and hope nobody drops the ball and nobody gets unlucky.

You are clearly not living in Ireland. We don’t get high temperatures here. Averages in summer range from 15-20 max. High temperatures (25+) are not very common and short lived when we do get them.

In Ireland it's high UV levels that might be some benefit in reducing the virus potency. If so hope for a 2018 type summer.

These are not WHO figures but from the European Center from Disease Control and Prevention. They report the daily figures available at 08:00 am.

If you look at the barchart there were no figures available from Italy the day before yesterday, probably because they were too busy to report them.

It must be absolutely horrific in the hospitals there now.

    God help them.

It's £330BN for businesses at no interest for 6 months. 15% of their GDP. Pretty decent if you ask me.

The UK stimulus and fiscal interventions being announced by Rishi Sunak are huge!

£330 billion and very targeted at supporting the economy.

Not getting worse either though which must be sign for optimism. Are the numbers getting tested every day increasing.
