In fairness to the gob****e the Chinese government had tried to send out a propaganda message that the virus was from America.

    Can our country handle anything?

Someone's comment on Facebook, their family member has all the signs, is on day 9 with worsening symptoms and HSE saying to contact GP, GP sending them to hospital, hospital sending them home to self-isolate and won't test them.

People don't need all this passing on the problem now.

I very much doubt that is the case

At the moment, yes I agree, but I was responding to a poster who seemed to think we need a full time public order unit, during normal times.
    We don't.

Look not to drag this thread off topic but there is little loads of anti social behavior around attacking cyclists, throwing stones at cars etc etc I think a full time one in Normal Times would be great but but now yes it’s a necessity. We need all the resources of the state now to fight this both human capital and equipment, supplies etc and no scrotes undermining the state and thereby putting people’s lives at risk.

True but it's best to have these spats privately rather than on Twitter.

Ive abandoned running in the park. Sucking in air as i pass people was stressing me out , and people are still ignorant enough to walk dead center in the pathway as they pass people , rather than to move off to the side.

Giving up ground is a major issue for some people. The same types hog up the fast lane when driving.

Folks can i ask, if gp not answering and the hse line is closed, what should one do to get a test, partner showing symptoms since yesterday, fever and cough, no joy yesterday evening in getting an answer from hse or gp, same story today

Ring your out of hours service although be prepared to be on the end of a long queue to be tested unless she has been in close contact with a confirmed case.

My wife is on the list for a test since Saturday and no sign of one yet
She has been sick in bed since last Monday with a cough and fever and while the fever seems to be gone, her cough is getting worse and I’m getting concerned now. Just letting her rest now but could very well be putting her in an ambulance today if she doesn’t improve. She’s in her early 30s with Asthma, not confirmed as coronavirus but even a regular chest infection can be dangerous for her.

He's seeing his reelection hopes going down in flames and thrashing about for someone to blame. The good news for him is that he has a long list at home and abroad!

That's interesting and promising isn't it. Could they not treat with a stronger dose of flu infection? Does Ireland do any research on this virus? I assume they are watching and learning how to treat from the other countries?

She's part of the generation that needs to know the actual facts, how close it is, she's like 10 in the east ye we're based in the east but its huge....I'm pulling my hair out trying to get them to get it, I can hear her roll her eyes everytime I go on about it and she got swine flu at the age of 5 and it was terrifying so I know the fright involved in seeing your loved ones so so sick and the waiting and watching and praying for them to get better

It seems very strange that people can't get through to the HSE line. I would have thought that would be a priority

I hope she is alright, same with my missus, fever and cough since yesterday, I’ve a feeling I’ll have a very long wait! Scary times this

There seem to about 35 teams worldwide at present and probably more looking at all aspects of it. No idea about research here but if you just Google "coronavirus research" you'll find plenty more stuff.

As of right now, the hse line is closed so it’s a call to gp but in reality I will be waiting a long time to even get an answer never mind a test, trying gp for hour this morning no joy so far

    Point a : Facebook
Point b: someone posted on Facebook
Point c: you read it on Facebook.
Gps are not referring suspected cases to hospital.
When you contact your go your put on a list for testing at the moment 12 to 24 hour wait.
At the moment our health system is rolling out the largest testing scheme in the history of our country it's not going to be done in one day.

If you think you have it, then you probably do. How is having a test going to help other than your partner possibly infecting people if she leaves the house??
This nonsense about getting a test is clogging the system. If you are fit and healthy, stay and home and sit it out.

We did but the merged it with another stupid thread. I want to read about this positive real tangible stuff. Not the scare mongering and apocalypse crap. Jeez it's depressing enough.

Germany to begin airlift to bring it's citizens abroad home.

From tomorrow all stores in Germany will close except for supermarkets and pharmacies.

Are you for real, the advice is to get tested, we are waiting at home and not going to gp, I’m fit and healthy but she isn’t and has respiratory issues. I’m not coming here to get in a row I’m looking for information

There is a sticky at the top of the forum. Maybe they can add some scientific research sources.
I've been looking at The Lancet, some of it open access and can get general gist of what some of the research is about. Nature is another one, otherwise just a simple search.
    Here's one from Nature.

I've a family member waiting on a test, currently in self isolation. We were put on the list for one since yesterday morning. No communication from anyone since.

The media love to do constant coverage of panic buying. Crisis or no crisis the media are always trying to whip us into a fearful frenzy.

Lovely things are happening. I wish they would cover the kindness that I see around me eg. the large facebook group set up for volunteers in my area to help with groceries and dog walking etc., for vulnerable and elderly. The local shop that produced bags of various toiletries and groceries free of charge to those in need. The well wishes from colleagues, club members, friends as we all head off to self isolate. Even the bits of encouragement on this thread when people aren't biting the head off one and other. :pac:

I would love to see an AMA with some people who have the damn thing and are getting through it. No coverage of that at all.

Getting the test does 2 things
    1. It will make sure that you and everyone you have been in contact with will stay isolated and take it seriously
    2. When you do recover, you’ll have immunity and will be able to help care for others who have the virus who may not be doing so well.

In a perfect world we would test everyone

A hospital in Brescia (one of the hardest-hit regions in Italy) ran out of ICU valves and the supply chain was broken. A local company brought a 3D printer to the hospital, redesigned & produced the valves in 6 hours resulting in the many lives of Covid-19 patients

    The end product :

    KUDOS !!!

    Article

Bumping this so as many people can see it as possible Question is would HSE staff be allowed to make such a lack of supply be made public?

Different mindset required from the the top up it’s an emergency forget about recriminations and the blame game ......lots of people sitting around with skills that can be adapted
to overcome potential problems shortage of equipment etc and only to willing to step up if only they knew

This thread does serve a purpose
