I suppose that is about 30%. Really expected far worse.

Is that the biggest percentage jump in one day so far?

The government really needs to just shut everything down. I don't know what they're waiting for.

Lose your job in UK you get £94 (€103).

    Ireland €203.

We often criticise our welfare state (like myself) but at times like this it's invaluable. There will be consequences down the line in terms of tax increases but I don't mind contributing to those who will and have had their livelyhoods taken from them for the good of the rest of us.

Yup. Am lucky enough to be able to work from home for now anyway. Who knows what cuts will be down the line in terms of roles. But if i can keep my job through all of this I will be only too happy to pay extra tax to contribute to the SW bill. OH was grumbling about the prospect until I pointed out at least he isnt a laid off bar worker with kids and a mortage!

That's just an excuse. Plenty of people who work with sensitive personal data work from home. HSE just don't want it to happen.
It depends on the quality of network and VPN connection. I work for a major organisation that is now requiring everyone that can to work from home, connecting to our network via domestic broadband

I would suspect the HSE have possibly not invested in appropriate security software to facilitate this - probably on the basis they never thought anything like this could happen

That's why big businesses have Business Continuity plans. We tested access on Friday with as many people as possible doing so from home

Unfortunately a hard and unfortunate way for many organisations to learn a lesson, and there is likely to be a lot of IT upgrades worked on when this is all over

    There's zero evidence of that.

It's going to spread here regardless of Cheltenham.

Guys, I am posting here regarding COVID-19 but its also work related. I work as an EHS Specialist in a Pharma Plant. There is only me working in EHS.

There was a global meeting this morning with all our SLT Team regarding the ongoing progress of this virus. Of course there is a requirement for the facility to keep operating. UP to now I have never taken up leadership as all EHS decisions are taking by the SLT Team on site, note that I am not included in these meetings.

The General Manager mentioned to me this morning after this meeting would I be able to work from home, I said that's fine, but I could call in for an hour here and there as I am not far from the facility. This afternoon I was talking to him in his office & now he has said there is a requirement for me to be there full time to give 'guidance' in the event of a case on site. Global EHS have issued a series of documents for 'Managers' regarding COVID-19.He showed me the power-point slide and indeed it did say 'EHS Leadership' required at the site.

Guys I am not an EHS Manager at the facility (other sites are bigger & do have EHS Managers/Dept, our facility is considered lower risk, no APIs etc), also I don't have the term EHS Lead in my title. Up to now it has been always me giving EHS guidance/direction only but Managers seem to make all the decisions. Any taughts on this one

You lost me at "EHS". So okay I googled it and kept going until I got to SLT. Googled it but couldn't see anything relevant so skipped through rest of your post.

    My thoughts (not "taughts")?

Seize the moment if you are feel you can do it. If they let you take management role they should recognise it is new area foryou in difficult times and be prepared to give you support.

I don't mean to critical in comments above but good communications skills are vital in many roles including management. Using acronyms without checking if audience know them is extra fast way to lose audience.

That hasn’t hit yet. There’s still a lot of people that didn’t meet the criteria, but now do, and are waiting for a slot for a test.

54 cases. From people who were swabbed a few days back. Imagine.

    hardly see that yet?

It takes up to two weeks to show symptoms so absolutely not. It's probably still mostly people who were skiing in Italy and those they contacted.

Primark (pennys) Limerick advised staff today they can wear gloves but have to purchase them themselves.
company budget does not include them.. Also union have approached company to point out the are not implementing Hse or Government instructions on coronavirus protection as of now company have not replied..
Pennys are also open tomorrow for St patrick's day the first time in years..
Good to see profits more important than health
