Leo says to expect 30% a day increase

OH was at GP today (not Covid 19 related) They said NOT to use ibuprofen as there is too much conflicting information right now. Odd as the HSE contradicted that today still don think I would chance it not enough info will stick with Paracetamol.

    Every day.

That gets to a very high number very fast.

Fergal Bowers said on RTÉ at 6 he expects 600-700 cases at the end of this week.

    50 would be quite Conservative.

Personally I think he was setting expectations for a significant jump tonight. 70+ I would think at my own Conservative guess.

    That is just my opinion.

If they are saying 800 by the end of the week. Based on a exponential growth we are talking 250 total

Yes, French experts say to not use anti inflammatories both steroidal and non steroidal.

I don't even know if paracetamol is a good idea unless your temperature gets very high. Of course if you doctor told you to take it then do.

It does, hence that Holahan tweet earlier about the next 7 days I'd say.

Coveney advising against 'all non-essential travel, including the UK but obviously not Northern Ireland'.

I'm missing out why Northieland isn't included in the advisory???

Certain DEASP offices are turning them around in 24 hours and are dropping cheques to the Post Office to be collected the following day.

They are under huge pressure but getting through it and payments are getting out to people.

Are they not paying directly into bank accounts? The form looks for your bank details

    We need a GVA stat.

    Good Virus Agreement.

And I am serious, looking at UK approach and Arlene’s approach.

SF need to back off too. Hopefully there will be an all island response for everyone’s sake.

The not travelling is so you don't get stuck in a foreign country. You won't get stranded in NI.

I hope they were meaning the first case and not the second case.

Germany running at 0.2% mortality rate. The UK is at 3.56%.

The Uk would have 0.2% too if it used the same metric as Germany for counting fatalities - only if there are no underlying conditions.

That doesn't explain the difference with France, Denmark, Netherlands. It's clearly something more specific. Maybe the test rate from early on.
Only meaningful COVID-19 death rate for comparison is dead/resolved cases, with this will start very high and work it's way down to about 6% with the passage of time.

Confirmed cases is based on too many unknowns to be useful, and comparing to annual rates for other viruses is totally meaningless at this stage.

death rate in Germany is very low.

    7,421 cases 15 dead

I read somewhere that they are recording the cause of death based on any underlying condition rather than Coronavirus. If true a shocking way to distort the figures.

Guys, I am posting here regarding COVID-19 but its also work related. I work as an EHS Specialist in a Pharma Plant. There is only me working in EHS.

There was a global meeting this morning with all our SLT Team regarding the ongoing progress of this virus. Of course there is a requirement for the facility to keep operating. UP to now I have never taken up leadership as all EHS decisions are taking by the SLT Team on site, note that I am not included in these meetings.

The General Manager mentioned to me this morning after this meeting would I be able to work from home, I said that's fine, but I could call in for an hour here and there as I am not far from the facility. This afternoon I was talking to him in his office & now he has said there is a requirement for me to be there full time to give 'guidance' in the event of a case on site. Global EHS have issued a series of documents for 'Managers' regarding COVID-19.He showed me the power-point slide and indeed it did say 'EHS Leadership' required at the site.

Guys I am not an EHS Manager at the facility (other sites are bigger & do have EHS Managers/Dept, our facility is considered lower risk, no APIs etc), also I don't have the term EHS Lead in my title. Up to now it has been always me giving EHS guidance/direction only but Managers seem to make all the decisions. Any taughts on this one

Why do the UK media give Johnson such an easy ride?
Soft questions all the way, no hard questions.
It's a form of self censorship widespread in the West. Look at all the BS wars and follow up terrorist attacks killing hundreds of EU citizens. No checks and balances, follow the party line..
