Would be nice to have an expert weigh in on this. I had heard the same about ibuprofen, but then lots of misinformation out there, so not sure what to believe.

the link is quoting the French health minister re the NSAIDS

I presume that he has access to pretty decent expert advice

Government calls on all public houses and bars, including hotel bars, to close from this evening until at least 29 March

    A small bit of hope.

Now we need to start fining people for walking the streets in groups (like they do in Spain.)

Are our airports off limits? Could they close?

Can you not post this stuff without providing some context or links to what you are talking about? France is full the other way as reported everywhere.

Thank God for that. Government taking responsibility and making smart decisions eventually and ignoring selfish twats.

Just had a friend ring me form UK asking if it was ok to drop up for a visit next weekend as he is over visiting his parents.. I politely told him to stay where he was. He honestly didn’t see what the problem was and said I was being dramatic and said if it was that serious the health authorities in U.K. would be doing more about it. This is a well educated man in a professional job . The mind boggles how a lot of U.K. residents are in the same mind frame.

Yes I have friends in the UK sending pics from pubs in London now, it's business as usual overall over there.

    European Commission statement :

    Key points:

    1) Export authorisation order that is stopping export of essential medical equipment / protective equipment outside the EU.
    2) Joint procurement from Monday - for key medical gear - testing kits and ventilators.
    3) Asking to keep goods flowing to prevent disruption to essential equipment production etc and disrupting supply chains. Guidelines (not directive) being issued.
    4) Generally asking people to coordinate together.

They are probably in a better position to manage social distancing. Some may close of their own choice anyway.

Can no one see how pointless this is? How many people will be going back to work tomorrow. You need a full lock down or do what the UK is doing. Europe is some mess right now. Clueless

Drinks industry spokesman 50,000 jobs gone overnight, due to closure request.

I suspect there will be a lot more than that, I am sitting watching till sales in the company I work for the last 4 days. Cannot see any other decision other than closing tomorrow, 135 people.

    what did they say?

the vintners and their association in particular are a renowned group of bollic-k-s only interested in their profits]

many (not all) of them would be more than able to dip into the profits to support staff

Spent almost all of the last few days at home. Went for a drive this afternoon & everyone was out in the sunshine, loads of people along the seafront where I live, loads of kids, loads of old people, shops look fairly busy etc. I can’t marry the two it doesn’t feel real, my pea brain can’t process!

Pubs close as if the virus knows people are gargling

What kind of inane comment is that?

In fairness the article I saw on RTE the vinters association were pretty strong in the condemnation of some pubs behaviour last night.

    It’s not pointless. It’s a right step.

Complete lockdown (whatever that actually means) is not achievable. People will move around no matter what..

Still no mention of closing all off-licences despite reference to COVID-19 parties. DOH, Harris on RTE

Actually today was the first day I observed social distancing where I am. Strange it wasn't done earlier.

Id say Harris's own health will be in tatters after all this.

The problem with lockdowns that the UK is in a dilemma about is if you have an entire lockdown, restricting the number of new cases, then things go back to normal and you get another huge spike in cases soon after.
