    3% of tests are positive

So 129 cases confirmed out of 4300 tests

Its obvious from the fact that they are not closing pubs that they are hoping to use these to slowly spread the disease. Go but less frequently and distance yourself

In a months time, we'd be delighted with only 39. If people don't start heeding advice this will be to triple figures per day very fast.

Whioe crushed and disappointed for all those receiving positive tests I am pleasantly surprised that it is only 39.

I feared with the improving testing infrastructure and the loser testing requirements that we would see 50 or 60.

Can you explain what is happening in Northern Italy's ICUs please?

This was published online yesterday. The Lancet is fully peer reviewed so it should be solid. It brings home that the Italians thought they had things covered, and the implications for even just the next few days.

Pathetic finger wagging towards people packing out venues and a kow tow to pub culture.

I've posted this already but will again to try calm the inevitable hysteria:

There should be a large jump in today's briefing but before people go crazy - it is due to an acceleration in getting test results back.
It was taking nearly a day before but since yesterday they are getting results back in 4 hours.

So today's new cases figure will essentially be for 2 days and not 1

    Important to note this.

What happened to the lad harping on about "lockdown". His bubble has evidently burst. Some people need to get a grip and stop feeding hyperbole.

A second person has died, and 39 more cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by the Department of Health.

This brings the total number of cases in the Republic to 129, and the total number of deaths to two.
