The Garda had already communicated with the OP, what's the harm in saying you'll be getting a ticket in the post?

Saving himself an argument probably, so he can get on with his job.

Seriously? You’re criticising an attempt to enforce the law or punish miscreants? Too often they simply drive by and do nothing.

No excuse for anyone parking at a bus stop/ loading Bay/wheelchair/ etc etc, first rule of driving is OBSERVE FFS typical Irish,I didn't know/ see etc-doesent wash

Not trolling and not havinmg a dig at the OP who seems to be quite reasonable about this.

To me parking in bus stops, public disabled spaces, cycle lanes, taxi ranks etc should be a penalty point offence.

Some drivers clearly couldnt care less. 1 penalty point for fairly anitsocial behaviour might make some drivers think again.

    3 points minimum id say

Clamp and vehicle removal would work much better, they would make a fortune in the city.

Why is it that peoples recommendations for "good policing" always seem to just involve having no consequences and letting the driver off?

I don't think anyone has said the driver should be let off. Even the OP now knows they did wrong, they just want to know if they are getting a ticket or not, which is what a good police force does.

In a lot of countries you get the ticket straight from the police officer, if you aren't a resident they'll bring you to an ATM for the money or arrest you, why can't we do it here?

No thanks; each clamp costs more in payments by DCC to the operator than they collect for the ticket. Just issue tickets and create an enforcement culture. 20 tickets issued for each clamp easily.

What I think is gas is being told by a guard that they’re in a bus lane, then staying there til yer man came back with the curry.

Not as gas as a guard going to the trouble to get out and take a picture of the OP breaking the law but not moving him on. It would be understandable if the car is empty to take a pic and send fine in the post but that guard isnt enforcing the law by not moving the Op on. Completely unprofessional.

Nah, the other thing was funnier.

Lads. Again I was just looking for the penalty for parking in a bus stop.
No issue in regard to trying to get out of it.
Some seem to think I am.
    Thanks
