Anyone care to explain the logic of shutting down sporting events primarily as 'public gatherings', football rugby F1 etc while other examples like public transport are open daily to much higher %'s of people..........I can book trip to Disney Paris in the morning but not buy a ticket to watch PSG.......or even book a flight to any country in Europe (including any in lockdown)

The govt have more control over them I presume, seeing as they fund the GAA, IRFU etc.

That the same Germany that was lecturing Poles, Hungarians and others on European Values?

Seeing that Germany apparently is responsible for the outbreak of the disease in Italy, and by extension Switzerland (and here!), that's pretty high handed of them.

Why do you need to know this? Can people not just assume it's everywhere now and take the necessary precautions....

I live 14km from the border, I want to know!

Italy is though, and both Frances and Germany have banned exports of masks etc, claim their own needs come first. These are two countries are held to be key decision makers of EU. Obviously leading by example is a decision they've decided to skip.

"European values".... All a bit of a cod

Again. The word SARs is the general term used for the 2003 outbreak. Used widely.
With a higher mortality rate then the covd 19.

So, no it's not SARS. Do you see the 2?
Yes I did, but it appeared that you were implying that not related except for acronym.

ICTV announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003. While related, the two viruses are different.

Plus Germany banned the export of protective gear... export out of Germany.
    Every country for itself signal.

Irema in Limerick are currently working 24/7 and producing 2.6million masks a week.

I suspect that they have 24/7 high security for this now high value product :)

And hse confirmed that they sourced substantial additional supplies of protective products a few weeks ago.

But no-one wants to talk about it because it would mean giving them credit for being pro-active

Aus PM comes out with this:

'We now have one goal in 2020: To protect the health, wellbeing and livelihoods of Australians through this global crisis, and to ensure that when the recovery comes, and it will, we are well positioned to bounce back strongly on the other side.'

Sorry, that's not goal, it's at least two.

    Clear view of priorities there.

That page is specially about the 2003 strain. This is the SARS2 strain.

    Just stop digging.

That is my exact point. How is that digging.
I am saying they are different diseases.
My whole point is that it is not sars, the 2003 disease.

Nope. We have a very slow growth of cases. We should be fine in a few weeks/month.

So how long of a lockdown can the world handle before we have potential food supply problems?

I'd imagine now is the time most farmers need to be planting crops?

This coronavirus lad on Claire Byrne live said he's young....and it's grand, just a fever, he's bored and he's fine.

Talk about luring people into a false sense of security with this interview.

He's clearly Brazilian. It'll spread like wildfire in the Brazilian tenements in Dublin.

*Do not follow this joker's advice*

We are at the very, very, very start of a 12wk progression, of which caseloads will double every 5-7 days (at best).
The HSE said 1.9m confirmed cases is a real possibility.

Also, the UK's Cheif Medical Advisor said they want to reduce spread to 'just 50%' of their entire population. That's their likely best case scenario.
They expect to move to Phase 2 (of 4) in 10days time approx.
