Anyone know if the locations of those infected in Northern Ireland? I can’t find any details other than 3 or 4 are from Belfast direction. The rest of UK locations are being specified, why not NI?

    They are in the North.

Just like ROI cases were in East, South, West (not sure about the North) :p

You might have to check the NHS website for further info.

Covid-19 is more infectious that the regular Flu
6 fold increase in chance of getting infected with the Flu during a outbreak, if you travel on the Bus.
This is 8 fold during a TB outbreak and rises to 10 if the bus passes a hospital.

Relevant info in the following link
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/coronavirus-how-avoid-spread-tips-transport/

We should be made aware of the bus number to have some idea if we’ve been exposed or not

Its not the same disease. Sars is generally used for the 2003 outbreak. They are related but different diseases. I know what it stands for thanks.

    Calm down.

I didn't say it was the exact same.
I said it was a new strain of the same type of virus. Which is correct.

Is it still the case that more men than women are becoming seriously ill with this? I know that was the case in China but are we seeing similar in Italy? I think we may have slightly more female cases here in Ireland but obviously that sample size is far, far too small to draw conclusions from.

I found it curious that a 60 something % of death people were male, when the hardest hit group age is 70+ and I always understood that usually women lived longer than men so it stands to reason that there are more 70+ women than men (I’m talking western countries)

We should be made aware of the bus number to have some idea if we’ve been exposed or not

Which would be of no use whatsoever.

Follow the guidelines, if you get symptoms, ring your GP and stay at home. Bus or no bus.

Again. The word SARs is the general term used for the 2003 outbreak. Used widely.
With a higher mortality rate then the covd 19.

So, no it's not SARS. Do you see the 2?

Anyone care to explain the logic of shutting down sporting events primarily as 'public gatherings', football rugby F1 etc while other examples like public transport are open daily to much higher %'s of people..........I can book trip to Disney Paris in the morning but not buy a ticket to watch PSG.......or even book a flight to any country in Europe (including any in lockdown)

    aw here...
ICTV [International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses] announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003. While related, the two viruses are different.

What name does WHO use for the virus?
From a risk communications perspective, using the name SARS can have unintended consequences in terms of creating unnecessary fear for some populations, especially in Asia which was worst affected by the SARS outbreak in 2003.

For that reason and others, WHO has begun referring to the virus as “the virus responsible for COVID-19” or “the COVID-19 virus” when communicating with the public. Neither of these designations are intended as replacements for the official name of the virus as agreed by the ICTV.

I would avoid the bus if possible, if not i would be careful not to touch anything and get a face mask.

Coronavirus can travel twice as far as official ‘safe distance’ and stay in air for 30 minutes, Chinese study finds.
Authorities advise people to stay 1-2 metres apart, but researchers found that a bus passenger infected fellow travellers sitting 4.5 metres away

Sigh...Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Between November 2002 and July 2003, an outbreak of SARS in southern China caused an eventual 8,098 cases, resulting in 774 deaths reported in 17 countries (9.6% fatality rate),[1] with the majority of cases in mainland China and Hong Kong.[2] No cases of SARS have been reported worldwide since 2004.[3] In late 2017, Chinese scientists traced the virus through the intermediary of civets to cave-dwelling horseshoe bats in Yunnan province.[4]

That page is specially about the 2003 strain. This is the SARS2 strain.

    Just stop digging.

What's the flu figure without vaccine?

Presumably higher, though, I mean, we have a vaccine for flu but none for covid-19. With or without a vaccine, covid-19 is significantly more infectious.

Yes saw that, very bad there. I met Irish people living over there last year who got hand foot and mouth a child passed it onto the parents. Another woman who goes there a lot says the women don’t wash their hands after using public toilets. Sorry to be offensive to any Spanish people ( because we’ve plenty like that here too) But hearing about corona over there just brought back to me what the woman had said. Poor Spain hope they get this awful thing under control. Think they have a really good health care system though it’s what I’ve heard so hope they will get the better of this virus.
Ive been to both women toilets there and here and I didn’t appreciate any difference in hygienic habits.
You’re just talking out your arse.
