Complete health warning cos it’s on twitter but two things going around that it’s to be announced tomorrow that the paddy’s festival is to be cancelled and also that DCC are to meet tomorrow to discuss cancelling.

These seem to cancel each other out but it’s out there. Again. Health warning.

I'd be sceptical. The festival is a five day event (starting on Friday afternoon), with numerous cultural activities attached (walks, talks, music concerts, public interviews, poetry readings, exhibitions etc all over Dublin and a Festival Village). The parade is merely the showpiece of the five day festival, not a standalone event.

Jesus I'd never return to any doctor or pharmacy if I was offered untested medication, are you demented? You can come off seriously worse off by taking the wrong meds.

Whatever about the other arguments you lot seem to be having but this is the extreme other end of the spectrum to anti-vaxxers.

I would agree with you, there is a good reason for clinical trials. Medications which interfere with your body chemistry can have unforseen consequences.

    Agreed.

We had a big family Christmas a couple of years ago and a 3 year old who was visiting had (unknown to anyone) picked up norovirus (winter vomiting bug).

Everyone at the family Christmas got it and we ended up having to basically stay quarantined to avoid passing it onto other family members. So basically 7 of us in a big house with all the horrors of projectile vomiting.

I spent Christmas night sleeping on the floor of an en suite toilet as I was too sick to even leave the bathroom!

We tried everything to keep it from spreading - but everyone in the house got it.

It nearly put me of Christmas for life.

This Xmas, despite flu vaccine me and 4 family members got the flu. I lost a stone! It was *that* bad. I’ve never in my entire life had a flu like it. Sweats, joint pains, no appetite, couldn’t get out of bed for a week.

I can only assume the vaccine strains this year didn’t cover it.

So I’m just a BIT wary or this damn virus. Keeping spread from happening within a household is virtually impossible.
I got that 2 years ago and as I was undergoing cancer treatment, I had a weakened immune system. It took me 2 and a half months to get rid of it. If I get Covid -19 I either spend at least 4 months shaking it off or I pop my clogs. My treatment focked up my respiratory system and thats one of the first things Covid - 19 goes after.

It links to a science direct article. Not a search page.

Page two of a googlescholar (Page 2 of about 1,320 results (0.03 sec)) search for covid-19 reinfection.

I can think of two. Dublin Tech Summit in April and the JCI European Conference in May.
Both will have 5000 plus people from all over the world attending.

It links to a Lancet journal through science direct for me. I'm on a university portal though.

For sure. Its all well and good to get you through this virus but if (hypothetically) it could leave a patient with a lifelong heart problem, it is categorically not worth it. Clinical trials serve an incredibly important purpose.

Don’t worry it won’t be passed on at the pump in Ireland. We have upwards only fuel price adjustments.

Not true, i have seen it drop from 1:35 to as low as 1.27 for diesel in the last few weeks. It’s coming down.

It's a glamping weekend away , 2 nights 3 days, BBQ, games, dinner,. Nightclub etc.

My mother is immuno compromised and older so she's a concern for me health-wise as one of the hens.

I am not sure if discos will still be a goer in 2 months if things really kick off like in Italy , or what if the staff themselves have to self isolate etc. I know this is the hysterical sounding part . However I am thinking of asking if I can work remotely to avoid community spread, so the hen seems very indulgent if we are meant to be avoiding that. However the bride would be heartbroken and I would hate to have over reacted

81% tests negative or n/a subsequently became positive. The CT scans showed it up from the start.

I assume your basing that from this post you previously linked to at Science Daily?

    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/02/200226151951.htm

Genuine question, but did you read the actual study and not that story?

Had a child come down with a virus last week. High temp, dizzy, headache and sore legs and slept alot. Nothing too bad. Have been washing hands, using hand sanitizer, and bleaching the house all week and the adults and another child have high temp and dizzy today.
Only thing I can think of is sick child coughed in our faces after climbing inbetween us during the night.
Am pessimistic about not getting covid19 now if any of the children catch it.

    Exactly my concern too.
No good washing your hands, social distancing etc, if your toddler is licking the floor of the supermarket.

Would anyone please somewhere hear the fact that the Chinese Government knew of this virus - to the point of 'punishing' - the doctor who tried to alert it and later died of it.
Why isn't any global authority or indeed any country asking China for financial aid to help with resources we need to combat what they knowingly set free on the world?

They are too busy managing and planning for crises?

Good night all. I hear a good night’s sleep is vital for the immune system. Unfortunately I’m up at 6.45am.

look another month will tell alot with regards the progression of this virus, Id be holding back cash till abt 3 weeks before the event and managing numbers closer to the time if you have people at risk attending they may want to keep off this one. Im sure the bride would understand and can do something low key for people who cant make it without cancelling everything.

Hen wouldnt stop me from working from home either- if i was properly set up to work from home

Take a look at this to get a bit of perspective. I think a "heartbroken" bride is a small price to pay instead of putting the health of the group at risk. https://www.reddit.com/r/medicine/comments/ff8hns/testimony_of_a_surgeon_working_in_bergamo_in_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I'm also hearing the jingles of sleep time. Unfortunately, not all of us can be on boards victim blaming 24/7 or posting funny pics(it
Would be great to have the free time). Some of us have to be on the frontline tomorrow. It's crucial work. Toodles.

I really hope it doesn't get that terrible here. I do believe social distancing is the best way to stop it from doing so

We'll all have to be prepared to make sacrifices in the coming weeks and months to at least slow the spread of the virus. People will need to think about the common good instead of just themselves.

Praise China time, the people who caused it all. How on earth the rest of the planet is not seeking damages from them I'll never know. They've cost the world trillions, and have caused the deaths of 1000's of innocent people.
