Are you aware of some post 2015 research that shows Vitamin C boosts the immune system? Because if not, then it's pretty clear that it doesn't have that claimed effect: http://www.yalescientific.org/2015/03/mythbusters-does-vitamin-c-really-help/

What the hell are you talking about?

Your link says exactly what I said, that vitamin c boosts the immune system in several ways. Whether or not a study was done in 2015 or in 2010 or even 1930 should not matter. Obviously the references to it helping the SARS virus probably isn't "post 2015".

Okay, go ahead and amuse yourself with that.

Just read this from my reddit feed. I strongly recommend you avoid if you are easily upset. It’s a very stark description of medicine in Italy right now

Prob old news but the guy from CUH is in the mater now.
Supposedly it’s very, very unlikely to be a positive ending

from the indo on the 6th "the hospital has the 12-bed national isolation unit, the state of the art centre where a the first patients who tested positive for the coronavirus in the Republic were referred."

I've heard he has pretty serious underlying conditions.

So you are happy to allow three three active cases of COVID-19 to go unreported in Louth because why? I'm been genuine. I can report these active cases to a HSE management level. By not reporting, this could lead to a lot of unnecessary deaths.

Or you could admit you are lying?

I'm sure the HSE are in a more knowledgeable position than me so I'll leave the experts to it. I'm sure they'll be announced , possibly tomorrow if there is press release. Dont keep calling me a liar then expecting me to engage with you.

What do people mean by a peak?

The number of infections per a time period have reached its highest level and any further values are less. However, the number of, or lack of, tests can affect these values.

I look at video's from a doctor on youtube Dr. Mike. He does reacts on medical shows but also advice on medical stuff also. He just did a react video on media fact checks. Not sure I am with him on the last bit of the video but the bit with the congress man was funny. Also what Jurgen Klopp said

well that youtube posted video was more usefull then 1000 people $hitting bricks here with hysteria.

if in places such as china virus got only 3k deaths which is like a drop in the ocean, dont believe they can cover up millions people, and seems most severe cases are due to underlying issues and avg age where most are vunerable.

as some doc dropping number half population could get infected means jack $hit as might as well say entire nation, but reality is given how it spreads and reports from those recovered in many cases it can be simple flu and no one would know.

I have been listening to news items all week with various politicians and medical experts telling everyone what they should be doing but I'm stuck here with no number to call apart from 999.

Interesting article on Corona resting. Sorry if already linked:

    https://www.newscientist.com/article/2236610-coronavirus-how-do-i-get-tested-and-how-does-the-test-work/

"These tests are not entirely reliable. “One or more negative results do not rule out the possibility of covid-19 virus infection,” says the WHO guidance on lab testing.

This can be due to technical problems, such as not keeping samples refrigerated, but it also has to do with the nature of viral infections. Someone who has only just been infected may not yet be shedding the virus into the throat, while someone at a late stage may have stopped doing so, while still having an active infection in other parts of the body."

Who said I had special info? I live in Cork and know people in the hospital. I'm merely stating what I've heard.

As an example, can we expose the lies of US2? He has consistently over the last few days tried to spoon people in the Louth area. Maybe he gets a jolly out of it but unnecessary mistrust in The HSE is not be welcomed. The majority of the HSE will be on the frontlines trying to treat potential victims. US2 (if he was believed might have lead to healthcare priorities been given to the north east of the country. On a national level, we need to balance out heath care significantly. Lies should not be entertained as it's a disservice to the patients we are treating and patients we might not be able to treat.

Last few days? I said it this morning .

As another poster said, the case in cork today was reported on this thread 2 days ago and only announced today why is it so hard to believe there is a delay of a couple of days in announcements?

Tesco Dundrum just now, outside of the normal pasta shelves. Probably now meeting the recent increase of demand here.

I ordered a oxygen/heartrate finger reader from Amazon. It might be a useful idea for others. To check on oxygen in the blood. If you need to relay it to your GP over the phone.

Pulse-oxymeters. Lidl had them on sale a while back.
A consistent 10% of all cases in Italy requiring ICU for the last 3 weeks is pretty horrific. No wonder the heath system can't cope.

Read this bad google translation of an article about what the Head of the Crisis Unit in Lombardy said (Intensive therapy = ICU):

    https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.corriere.it%2Fcronache%2F20_marzo_07%2Fcoronavirus-stiamo-creando-terapie-intensive-anche-corridoi-cb01190a-60be-11ea-8d61-438e0a276fc4.shtml

There isn't a delay of days.

Well there seems to have been a massive delay with one of the latest to be diagnosed down in Bon Secours, Dazzler, so much so that he was sitting in ICU for a period of time before being tested for coronavirus.

They have advised staff who have had contact with the patient and who are displaying symptoms of coronavirus to self isolate.

Except there are not always symptoms!!!! Shít you couldn't make up. The HSE will not be happy until we have achieved the Italians scale of ineptitude. All flights need to be stopped now from Northern Italy.

133 to 366 deaths in one day. Now approaching 8k cases.

We would be well into summer at that point. At a conservative doubling rate of 4, a 12 week peak would have us at 41 million cases, so that can't be right. A 50% population infection would take 9 weeks. A 20% population infection would take 8 weeks. That is uncontrolled spread.
There are over 4 wks in a month, 12 wks from now is the 31st May, very start of meteolgical summer i.e. It only starts to warm up at the start of June. Also schools close at start of June. July/Aug are the hottest driest months.

Doubling rate is approx 5 days, though that can vary upon a variety measures taken and any mutations.

I constantly marvel at the pure sh1te most people worry about. Maybe it's because I have a long term illness but if I feel well enough to do stuff, I bloody enjoy every minute. No point in worrying yourself over every little thing.

Any answer as to how the case in cork confirmed today was reported on this thread almost 2 days ago??
