    Agree, have the AS5 on the R and they are brilliant. Not mental money either, paid €130 delivered from tyre leader and 15 corner to fit.

    What are the sidewalls like on the F1.
    One of my Good Year Efficientgrip asymmetrical only lasted 6 days and the first pothole it hit killed it.

    I never had an issue and have had a few sets of Asy 3 and this is my first set of Asy 5 they are on the car 3 months at this stage.

    Guess I was unlucky. Went for Turanzas again as that’s all I could get at short notice.

    How are fronts wearing? 25k kms not too bad from a 3.0 if you are anyway heavy footed to be fair.

    To put some perspective on that, I spend my days working on Nissans and Jules are fitted with either Continental Ecogrip (or what ever) or Bridgestone Turanzas, you’d be doing well to get 15-20k out of either of those on that particular car so to get 25k out of a high powered, torque diesel is very good going.

    I'm quite lightfooted but got 65k kms from nexan nfera ru1 on a Kia sorento. AWD and they were swapped front to back at 40k kms. Lots of motorway miles too to be fair.

    90 for the fronts and 132 for the rears for mine from Tyreleader. Uniroyles are a about 10-15 cheaper a corner.

    It would be a fair assumption that the Goodyears would have the better sidewalls and not ware as quick ?

    I have 18" Goodyear F1 Asy5 on my GTi. Very impressed with them, excellent grip in dry and wet. However I did puncture a sidewall a few days before last Xmas thanks to a deep and cragged pothole. Wouldn't put me off buying them again though or recommending them as a good fit for Irish roads.

    Think the battery or alternator is on the way out. Noticed today the wipers move at a slower pace, slightly hesitant on start up and afterwards I got the red battery symbol.

    What's this I hear about bmw batteries having to be re-coded ? Some online saying they do and some saying they don't.

    You can get away with it but parameters are supposed to be reset after a new battery is fitted in most modern cars.

    Generally unless you have a specialist who's bought the manufacture software.
    If the dealer fits the battery they'll be obliged to program it too and many times with EFB's they're not too much dearer in a stealer.
    Worth pricing at least, I know for my own place it's quite reasonable.

    Jaysus, enhanced flooded batteries are pricey enough but that seems like a reaaal german price.
    In Nissan for a 720A EFB you're looking at well less than 300 supplied, fitted and coded.

    I know the stop/start car batteries are ~€200 for the battery.
    The non stop/start car will take a battery (€120) - at least this is what I paid a few months back.
    So coding the battery on top of that - well, I don't think it should be €200 to do that.

    Yeah, an EFB for a Golf/ Passat type car would be around €350 fitted and coded. Battery alone is around €210.

    Well for those that are interested. Last week I said I will get a compression test done to the car so I got it done this evening. Piston rings are a bit worn as the wet test brought it up but there is still decent compression for a 22 year old car with over 240,000 km.
