Exactly, these masks are supposed to be single use, and should be left for the healthcare workers properly trained in their use, or those who really need them for their own sake and been shown how to fit them

I do have mask that takes replaceable cartridge filters either side i used when handling copious quantities of adhesive with nasty organo-solvents (toluene). I think if that can successfully filter near gaseous vapour, aerosols should be a cinch. I can't see myself wearing that in public unless things got dire.

Is there a different rule about preferring to bury your head in the sand? I'm confused. I'm very sorry, masks are bad. Viruses do not like poo. Especially not Nora.

"A virus-laden aerosol plume emanating from a SARS patient with diarrhea was implicated in possibly hundreds of cases at Hong Kong’s Amoy Gardens housing complex in 2003. That led the city’s researchers to understand the importance of the virus’s spread through the gastrointestinal tract, and to recognize both the limitation of face masks and importance of cleanliness and hygiene, Nicholls said in an interview."

I wouldn't write that one off so quick if it's comparing it to SARS, especially if it stops people from using old masks

    More speculative nonsense.

Twitter really is a cesspit of morons.

Just about every major world news organisation of repute is on Twitter; many Scientists and other professionals are on Twitter. There's both good and bad and being on Twitter does not automatically make something bad or false.

Your sources are nothing but speculative scaremongering headlines made about completely different viruses without a shred of evidence to back them up.

Does the plastic bottle job work better than the sh!ttier masks? I've got one ready to go but the last thing I'd want is to appear foolish wearing it.

Are you really calling an epidemiologist a moron for posting a link to a peer reviewed scientific journal?

    Where's your link? :D

The president of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics said the option of cancelling the Games was not on the table, responding to deepening speculation of a delay or cancellation.

“I am totally not considering this,” Yoshiro Mori told reporters at a briefing when asked about a possible cancellation.

HSE experts have informed the public that masks don't work ok? Even if we had any and separate from the fact we don't, ok? Remain calm.

I don't think they can prevent an Irish citizen returning home though.
If they went a different route then they may not have been tested for the virus.

    From Guardian live blog
In Australia, New South Wales health minister Brad Hazzard has said there is an “evolution” happening in the spread of coronavirus around the world.

While there had been “no substantial change” overnight, seven of the states infections appeared to have been “on-soil,” he said. There are currently 22 infections in the state.

“New South Wales health is doing everything they can to try to still contain it, but we do know that containment is likely to be an unlikely outcome,” he said.

I genuinely don't know why there is such an amount originating out of Italy. Is there an explanation for that?

    It's correct. 438 and 3 new deaths.

Seems to be the more virulent like the Hubei/Iran strain.

It's a dreadful situation in Italy.

Does anyone know why it's exploded so much in Italy?? The amount of infections from there is unreal.

Don't know but few things to note. There is a lot of manufacturing in north of Italy where parts manufactured in china are then assembled in Italy and given made in Italy sticker. Lot of business contact that way.

They are similar to here in terms of not taking these things serious and kiss when saying hi.

That's all I got. (No sources for any of that sorry)
