Just wondered, let's say the Parade goes ahead, would YOU go to it and bring your kids? I doubt many would, so cancelling or postponing it might be best in the long run. We'll see.

Someone upthread mentioned the World Irish Dancing Championships. They are taking place in the Convention Centre early April. We have three relatives staying with us for it, the mammy and the two daughters from UK.

At this stage a lot of thought should be given to either cancelling or postponing large gatherings of international visitors.

(Save me having to deep clean the house too for the visitors ha ha)

You clearly don’t spend much time with the under 5s

I guess people still go to mass too despite the churches disgraceful activities here for centuries. All morons.

The pagans before Patrick did a bit of killing too. There are a lot more intelligent people than you who go to church.

It has been postulated by some. It may well be wishful thinking. The reputable health bodies are not promoting this view. I think Donald Trump might have said something to this effect !

Not everyone around the person will immediately contract the virus or everyone outside of several obscure tribes would have it by now.

Yeh its a weird example but things like kissing a spouse or sharing a glass or utensil or something is instant infection and doesnt matter how long

Royal Veterinary Collage has issued a statement re:quarantined dog in HK.

Upshot is there is no evidence pets can become infected but it is very possible virus can 'live' on pets.

Won't be rubbing anyone's dogs and any fecker who tried to rub mine will get told to back the eff away from the pooches.

Sure they did. It doesn't change the fact that St. Patrick was a cnut* and is not worth celebrating.

Anyone who goes to mass knowing what they know is a moron. Plain and simple.

Just postpone the parade and be done with it, at least in July we can almost guarantee nice weather
Hoping nothing gets worse in the next two weeks is just head in the sand stuff

Reality is it will get worse and no one will go to it anyway

The Government needs to clarify what will happen to people in the gig economy, part time unemployment etc.

The core of the plan depends on everyone being responsible and self isolating, if it is necessary to do so.

Those workers need some assurance that they won't starve or get evicted if they self-isolate, otherwise they will have no choice but to work and the virus will most probably spread unchecked.

True to those in part time or zero hour contracts. Gig 'employers' , whether they like it or not, have a duty to their employees (though they dont want to call them that). Wanting all the upside of their labour and no down side is not socially responsible. Big money is being made by these companies.

You can believe the message but recognise a lot of the preachers are bad people. Nothing wrong with the message of Christianity, could help with containing this virus. If you love your neighbour you won't head skiing in Italy and return to infect him/her.

Haven't been to the Parade in Dublin in about 15 years at this stage. So I wouldn't be going anyway.

Given that the HSE version of spending 15 mins with someone would also (generally) cover the spouse that adds absolutely nothing.

Anyway talking about getting from a spouse wouldn't add to the panic in the same way as taking about getting it from a randomer on the bus.

    * because the Covid-19 cases in Ireland all originated from northern Italy more stringent travel restrictions to those regions should be enforced.
    * surprised by the advice stating that you would need to be sitting beside someone for 15 minutes before you need to become concerned about contracting the virus, adding that "15 minutes is a very arbitrary figure." Dr Mills said that if you are sitting beside someone and they sneeze in your face for ten seconds, you are likely to contract the virus.

If a carrier sneezes in your face, you will catch the virus in 0.1 seconds, not 10. I imagine the 15 minute thing just counts for virus hitching a ride on vapour particles released with normal breathing.

Has St Patrick tested positive for CoVid?

But if it did go ahead all those people that did go will go back to their lives and potentially infect others! It should definitely be cancelled or postponed

It has been said that warm weather will kill virus.

Can someone explain how virus has now spread to British woman in Tenerife hotel, unconnected to original Italian group. Temperatures in 20s during day and people isolating outdoors in sun.

The virus has only been known to science since late December of last year and there are many unknowns about it. The effect of temperature and climate on the virus and its spread is totally unknown at this stage.

But just because that serial liar Donald Trump said that the coronavirus outbreak will be gone by April because “the heat generally speaking kills this kind of virus” does not make it so.

Today : Kuwait - 56 cases Bahrain - 52 cases U.A.E. - 27 cases (no lack of sunshine there on the Persian Gulf)

Also the MERS (also a coronavirus) 2012 outbreak did not start with a penguin in Antarctica , it began with a camel in Saudi Arabia.

That “gone by April” will come back to haunt him !!

Ah where did you learn that? Mass? How sweet.

The story of removing the snakes from Ireland was the removal of the culture that was already here by means of convert to Catholicism or die.

Many choose not to convert. Many died.

Just 1 of many genocides committed by the RCC over the centuries.

I think you will find the RCC are the baby killers even up until recent decades. How about Tuam as 1 of many sites in Ireland.

Some of the stuff from the HSE is pie in the sky stuff. Many of us here were casting doubts on their recommendations long before thls professor from trinity. I'm glad there's someone stepping up and talking out.

The culture you speak of was slaughter and infanticide, on a scale not seen since.

I'll go to mass and you can go casting your Wiccan spells at Halloween. Feckin druid clown.

It is shocking how quickly this is taking a foothold in Western states, imagine how rampant it already is in the developing world

How often do HSE/Dept. Of Health release statements on current cases/reports? Once every evening after their cup of tea?

This dry s*ite wouldn't even enjoy the drinking or festivities.

'About time we stopped celebrating this cnut* Patrick'. He's one of these druids himself...his culture was destroyed isn't he telling us.
