Why do you want to know?

Why are you even asking this? Are you waiting in the long grass with an armoury of replies to have a pop at this person? Let the person ask. People may have their reasons, from being a nosey neighbour or someone who is genuinely worried. It is not your business, stop lining yourself up to take a moral high ground here.

So they're only tested 397 and got 2 confirmed cases. If you were to apply those stats to Dublin your probably looking at 6800 cases in Dublin alone if everyone was tested.

Both those people came back from affected places in northern Italy. Has all of Dublin been there?

So they are still saying that there is a very low risk of it spreading in Ireland...and St Patrick’s Day parades still going ahead....not sure if that’s wise??

For the life of me I could not find that story on bbc.co.uk - I think its potentially interesting WRT to the planned Olympics later in the year, But am now dubious about that tweet...

Listening to various interviews last night I would be certain that parades will be cancelled for St Patricks day. I'd say we will be told today or tomorrow latest.

They will probably use the term postpone
    In regards to the parades

An old saying but applies nonetheless. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Assume makes and ass out of u and me.

I'd say more likely a week out they will look at postponing.

Government: Don’t travel to Northern Italy
Airlines: we’re still flying, no refunds

What do you think a lot of people are going to do?

In all honestly Im torn on this one. Part of me thinks they’d be mad to let any mass gatherings go ahead. Saying that I’m due to go The Script on Saturday and I’m equally hoping it won’t be cancelled.

It’s a hard one - we have to take all warnings extremely seriously but you can’t stop living either.

Not go, take the hit. There are already empty rows in flights to Italy (judging from a photo one woman took a few days ago).

A lot of people will literally stop living if we don't try and stop the spread. 20% of cases will need a high concentration of oxygen, we can't support this. The transmission needs to be slowed as much as possible so our medical system can keep up.

This is incorrect - the current "offical" status for Italy is "High degree of caution":

    Security Status
    Normal precautions
    -->High degree of caution<--
    Avoid non-essential travel
    Do not travel

They're still doing it in spite of the ban.

Good point about the Blarney Stone, our own weird tradition.

If you were told before you went in that there are 1,000 people in there and 35 would die, it's not likely you, but couldn't be sure, you may be left with dodgy lungs and someone might slip a grenade in your pocket that will likely kill your nana when you go home..

    Would you want to go?
