Some parts are, its a huge country with a lot of variation. The city of Hamadan in the North of the country experiences snowfall all winter long with temperatures as low as -30C regularly, for example

Worst blizzard in history was in Iran in 1970's when 26 feet of snow killed 4000 people

Given the transport links between Ireland and England, how can the the HSE say transmission in Ireland risk is low - they simply are not credible after Public Health England's announcement.

They've never been credible in fairness.

There's absolutely no way to know this for sure.

    Hence why I said 'Should'

Most virus' do eventually fade away. I may be wrong, but in general.

April(ish) should be when we start to see a plateau, particularly with warmer temperatures coming, which is why it is hugely important that we handle the next 2-3 weeks carefully and can contain whats already here

    Call off the Paddys festival,
limit any gatherings for the next 2-3 Weeks

    Should be through the worst

It doesn't even remotely reflect the reality we are actually seeing. We have not, and likely will not, see anything close to resembling the effort China has made being repeated anywhere else.

What would you suggest then complete all out defcon one shut the whole country down full scale China mode ECT ? Is that what you are hoping for ?

What response would be good enough for you

Tipperary TD calls for 'full disclosure' of coronavirus cases across Ireland

A Tipperary TD is calling on the HSE and other responsible Government agencies to “tell people the full truth” about the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in Ireland.

Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne says there have been rumours circulating locally about employees being sent home from work in Tipperary, and that the lack of information from the Department of Health is doing “nothing to ease the fears of the people” about the potential spread of the coronavirus.

Deputy Browne wants the Department of Health to “come clean and stop hiding behind excuses like confidentiality.”

    https://www.tipperarylive.ie/news/ca...-outbreak.html

I agree 100%. Not naming the school yesterday was not a breach of confidentiality, it was a failure to inform the public.

There should be no secrecy, it’s not about confidentiality, it’s about public safety.

    Simmer down about what?

Do you not think that all cases should be disclosed at the earliest possible time? Because that's the point he is making. Nothing more nothing less.

Do you not think that full disclosure will help the public make all efforts to contain the spread of this virus?

This 'School in the East' type thing is not full disclosure. I think naming the school yesterday would have been perfectly reasonable. Trust erodes when people perceive that they aren't being told the whole truth, it implies that there is something to hide.

A somewhat irresponsible use of words from them : 'widespread' could mean 200 cases or 20 million. There is a need for absolute clarity when throwing words like 'widespread' out there.

There will, inevitably, be more cases. I’m just assuming that this is circulating and I’m keeping social gatherings to a minimum and following advice on hand washing etc. I was investigating a few trips abroad in the next few months but hadn’t booked yet so I’ll leave those until later in the year and see the situation then. Luckily or unluckily (time will tell!) I’m a pensioner so work isn’t an issue. As one of the age groups most likely to be affected all you can do is follow advice and accept what comes. Que sera sera.

I think a lot of working age people will take their own measures similar to the above, as much as they can and I’d expect to see much quieter restaurants pubs cinemas etc. St Patrick’s Day events should be cancelled now as a lot of people will not attend them anyway with children and by the middle of March there will be more cases.

The 3 things that curtail the spread of winter viruses are, in no particular order:
    • Warmer weather
    • People spending less time in close proximity to each other and more time outdoors
    • Schools are closed

In Ireland I suspect the warmer weather has less of an impact than in Southern Europe.

I’m not trying to politicise this, but some of the new SF TDs are pretty fücking stupid - the sort you’d have seen commenting on click bait Facebook articles before they found themselves elected to the Dáil.

The HSE are following an approach taken by many other health organisations across Europe.

Unfortunately, the demographic he's playing to will lap up the sh;ite he's coming out with.

That's what we're faced with in this country. Dumb people electing morons.

This should be the absolute minimum we do

Any large gatherings for the next fortnight need to be stopped. It is going to spread in Ireland, but can certainly stop how much

Limit any kind of spread now and it should taper

Folks, Iran (also known as Persia) is firstly - a very large country.

Iran contains 11 differently described climates, many of which are cold, many of which are hot.

There are numerous ski resorts in Iran too, so yes, it's cold there.

    NOT

one of those desert countrys full of arabs where its just nothing but sand and hot

I think you are underestimating their stupidity.

They are the ones screaming the loudest that the gubberment has to do something but wait until next winter when Mary's Johnny gets a headache from a vaccination and they will be screaming the loudest that the gubberment is killing people.

They will also want everyone who ever gets coronavirus to be named and shamed in public and wear sackcloth and ashes, but online trolls who attack people like Mairia Cahill should have their anonymity protected.

Work managed to buy and extra hand sanitizer at the week end - a colleague did the round of all shops and pharmacy .
Lloyd Pharmacy the 1.20 euros bottle is now sold for 8 euros. Limited to 6 bottles per person.

That is absolutely disgusting they are doing that. 8 euro. Arseholes will not be getting my custom again.
