He things I'm talking ****e about it and it's only a flu in his eyes. This is a very smart guy who is absolutely clueless to how serious the whole thing is. Same guy would eat up RTE content.
Same with any of the group chats I'm in and last night when I met up with my friends, they were very blasé. I didn't talk too much about it then, as we were having a good night, but when we messaging about it later I sent some links to indicate that it does actually look like it's a serious risk to public health and we should be more cautious to try and prevent its spread.

I will say that in the toilet of the pub, absolutely nobody was washing their hands.

Time to avoid big cities with airports. Guess I'll avoid Dublin or even Cork for a while.

Anyone coming back to Ireland from any coronavirus hotspot should be forced to self isolate for 2 weeks regardless of being sick or not

Well,as of Feb 27th, Italy's mortality rate at 2.6% was similar to China. It could be lower and it actually could be higher. A lot depends on screening and reporting.

Brazil has so far confirmed only two cases of coronavirus - both Brazillian citizens who had been in Italy.

But a report in one of the country’s leading newspapers this Sunday says there are now 252 suspected cases - 136 of them in the state of São Paulo and 19 in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the Estado de São Paulo newspaper, the suspected cases are people who have not just symptoms but have also had contact with a suspected case or a travel history connected to coronavirus.

It's currently about 23c in Rio, so further evidence that this will not just be a winter thing

It wasn't a school trip, but a family holiday to Italy.

    I sit corrected.

I noticed large crowds in both Tesco and Dunne’s in Clonmel today. Stocking up?

Seems that a school trip brought the virus to Ireland. Time to ban all school trips. https://www.thejournal.ie/coronavirus-case-ireland-covid-5028780-Mar2020/

They could have just tested all people coming back from Northern Italy.

How many people are we talking about in total? A couple of thousand? Look at flights coming from northern Italy, test them all as they get off their flight. Arrange to test them all a week later.

They took no precautions whatsoever. They just said 'ya grand'. The guy had to diagnose himself as being infected and present himself to authorities. If he hadn't and just decided he had flu he would still be infecting people.

I know who will the Oscar for best foreign film in 2021

    March 1, 2020, 3:00 a.m. ET

LONDON — Last Saturday, Nicholas Hulbert, a British film director, flew from London to Venice for his latest project.

It was to be a short film based on “The Decameron,” a 14th-century classic of Italian literature in which 10 people hole up in a villa to try to escape the plague.

On Monday, Mr. Hulbert, 26, was shooting at a similar villa in Lugo — a town 55 miles from Venice — when he received a text. It was from his mother.

It would be interesting to know the age profile of those that died. Rumours say that China created a virus that would only affect the elderly.

My daughter is in primary school around the corner from scoil Catriona. There are bound to be younger siblings of suspected cases in her school. Very close to pulling her out of school for the couple of weeks.

We know the age profiles of those that have died.

We also know that China did not launch a pandemic on itself.

If China created the virus then it was the biggest own goal in the history of mankind.
