2 Waterford players sent off in a matter of minutes against Tipp. Austin Gleeson & Kevin Moran.

EDIT: And now Cathal Barrett gone as well for Tipp in another incident

Another ref trying to ruin another game of hurling.

Couple of really soft reds there.

By the letter of the law ref is correct so no complaints.

Well if the players stopped striking each other off the ball then the ref wouldn't have to make any decisions about a issuing a red card.

The players need to start taking responsibility for their actions

Gleeson is 100 per cent 2 yellows.

Why do hurling folk think its ok to hit eachother.

They are all reds. Soft. But only the players to blame. Not the ref.

    They were all red cards.

Should be 3 reds to Waterford. Hutchison struck the Tipp lad first off.. had it been dealt with there wouldn't have been a retaliation

innocent poor tipp lad. Has he previous form hmmm

Gleesons second was a straight red card anyway, nevermind the first soft yellow

I'm neutral. Gleason deserved 1st yellow, second was a straight red. Didn't see what led up to the Moran red but he jabbed the hurl into the lads ribs.

Gleeson's indiscipline letting his county down again. Can't help himself.

Super game otherwise credit to players

Tipp not hurling well and rather lucky to be in front. Waterford hitting a lot of wides but will take a lot from their overall play.

Tipp get there in the end with an unconvincing two point win. Good to get the two points though and looks like it's the winners of Tipp and Galway next week who will make the quarter final. Galway had a vital home win v Cork so as i expected two home wins in these two big games.

will Kilkenny be now counted as having 3 home games and have to travel for the QF depending on who's in it ???

Wexford had 3 at home so in the same boat

Is it true that Eddie Brennan forfeited home advantage for Laois and decided to travel to Nowlan Park instead?

Think it was more to do with the pitch in O Moore park

Kilkenny originally had only 2 home games and then go this one so not sure will they be counted as having 2 or 3 home games in regards the QFs

O’Moore was in ribbons apparently after a good few games last week. I doubt Brennan had any say in the decision though.

But why play it in Kilkenny and give your opponents a clear advantage? If O Moore Park was unplayable is there no other ground in Laois to play in or if not play it at another later time. I never heard of a county willingly giving up home advantage like that.

Id say Wexford vs Carlow was like watching 2 rainbows fight with the amount of colours in the jerseys ha

So Leinster is going to 6 teams next year to accommodate westmeath, offaly, carlow, laois etc. All apart from offaly well beaten this weekend. Will this really improve the championship?

Offaly are playing at a level below the other three in the league.

Still doesn't change the fact that it's 3/5 chance of getting out of Munster and 3/4 chance getting out of Leinster. The extra two in Leinster are canon fodder and making up the numbers.

When Carlow were well beaten in last years Leinster Championship there was a general feeling that going up and down to the JoeMc was not beneficial and that a longer stay in the Liam Mc would be. Carlow themselves were first to complain about having to go back down. So if these teams think getting well beaten is a good thing then why should we stop them. Hence we have a 6 team Leinster now.
    Theres no pleasing some people.

The year Carlow and the likes manage to gain enough points to qualify out of Leinster with Kilkenny, Wexford, Galway and Dublin present in the same system, will be the same day the world ends. Hiding to nothing to be fair.

Aren’t Carlow and Kildare playing a lot of underage hurling in Kilkenny now? Granted it’s a long long term thing but it’s the only way to get them near the level of having the speed of thought and skills, the stuff that can’t be coached by an inter county manager. Short term stuff like keeping them in Leinster will do nothing.
Not sure if other counties have similar foresight (Kerry in Cork/Limerick, Wicklow in Wexford/Dublin, Laois in Tipp, etc but it’s the only way. These teams have the basic skills and you can do fitness, but the speed needs to come from an early age.
