Well then, a place in China remote from Wuhan might not be in a very different situation from Hong Kong.

Note that Singapore as a similar number of cases as Hong Kong.

Not the same. China runs Hong Kong. If something is to be suppressed then it will be suppressed. Democracy and openness in Hong Kong is as much as China wants it be ultimately.

Not seeing it anywhere else yet, but at 83 and meeting and greeting so many over the last month, he very well could. Would be very hard on his mostly elderly followers here, would scare a lot of them. Then a load of elderly men lock themselves in to pick the new one.

Out in Dublin tonight for a few pints and the pub I was at had hand sanitizer all along the bar and the workers had gloves.

Makes perfect sense but it's so surreal to see.

I wanted to think that this was all a blow up out of proportion earlier in the year but I now genuinely believe that our lives as we know it are about to change dramatically.

This virus will shake us to our core and anyone not prepared or who think it will be all grand really need to wake up and smell the coffee.

The one case verified in Ireland is nothing, there is likely 10s to 100s already infected and asymptomatic in Dublin alone, spreading it unknowingly as they go about their day.

You're unlikely to die from this virus but the social implications of this will lie with us for years.

    Not a credible source.

Well he was out shaking hands in a virus hotspot, the chances are he has it.

He'll receive the best of medical care but with a partial lung removal and his age to take into account, there's a big risk he'll take a turn for the worst.

If he dies, that'll be a big turning point and it will result in mass panic buying and further market drops.

He's our Canary, let's hope he doesn't croak.

Take care folks. Genuinely feeling safer living in Asia now than i would if i was at home. The precautions have been made here the guidelines set and are adhered to here by the people.

Meanwhile we have a goverment and healthcare system who seem completely inept and totally unprepared for the virus along with the sure it will be grand attitude.

How many did you have in the pub?

You'd prefer to be in Europe. It's like the Eurovision at the moment.

I totally agree with you on second paragraph, it’s a great idea. But we have some good private hospitals that could be used, it may come to the greater good stage and they have to row in and get on board. I said maybe last week or more on here that all non essential surgeries should have been cancelled so beds would be free, train all staff in infection prevention and get ready. It was going to hit. I am hoping to God some decent plans have been prepped behind the scenes. The hse did well in procuring their ppe equipment so hopefully they are somewhat ready. Current bed issues make me feel maybe not.

What do you mean, like some of the Bon Secour hospitals?

I was watching YouTube videos from a young doctor, I think I'm the states. I don't know how to link a video. He explained the best way to keep this virus from spreading and to somewhat contain the virus is hand hygiene and for every body to do their bit with proper hand washing. He also explained that for a lot of people, they unintentionally touch their faces about 20 times an hour.

I don't know how I'm going to train myself not to touch my face. That's probably going to be the hardest part.

    Not enough.

So what about what I said is eye roll worthy?

Is it the likelihood that an elderly man who potentially has the virus might die or the market dip that would follow the death of a pope as a result of this virus.

Of course I'm only speculating but they are very possible scenarios that even I can see regardless of the few I've had in the pub.

I'm sorry if you're in some way offended, I'm only describing a potential scenario and in no way scaremongering.

How do you manage to access boards with your head so deep in the sand?

I actually an involved in management plans for the Corona virus so I would suspect I would know more than you. If I didn't, I would definitely not deserve my salary.

The pope cancelling meetings because of an illness after greeting crowds of people in a region where the virus is spreading rapidly.

I don't understand how it isn't acceptable to discuss that this may very well be coronavirus, is he immune to it due to his holy title?

He's an old man and just as prone as everyone else who has contracted the virus in the region.
