    The E-Soul also

Which would be my personal choice, at least until the ID-3 comes out

Went down to the peutgeot garage in cork city yesterday and saw the e-208. It’s actually a very beautiful car, design wise it’s much nicer then the Zoe and looks a lot more sporty. Inside was very comfortable aswell. All the sales staff were gone unfortunately so couldn’t get much info at that time but one guy said they have a few Allures in the country but very few GT-Line ones

The Allure has a softer suspension so possibly the better buy.

Was reading an e2008 review yesterday from someone who was at the original e208 launch in Portugal.

He or she did the e2008 test at an event in Spain and was praising the e2008 for having a much better ride then e208.

But as balance they noted that at the Spanish event there was Allure e208s and that the softer suspension does make a difference.

The E-2008 does look really nice I have to admit, at least on the outside but the thing that, in my opinion, lets it down is 130 hp, I know the French aren't known to provide power in their cars but you could argue this is done to conserve fuel, there is no need to conserve fuel in this situation and I would hate to be driving a big heavy yoke like that with only 130 Hp, ok maybe around town but God awful slow on the open road. Shame.

They could have went to 60 usable Kwh also.

This is 2020, they could also have stretched out the wheelbase and put the electrics down in the chassis like Tesla and BMW ( i3) so why create another ICE conversion EV ? Why make it compact when there is no real need ? You can also give passengers more interior room.

3 Phase AC @ 11 Kw is decent. Why not go with 20 Kw ?

How many Kw can it pull from a 100 Kw charger ?

Went out to a dealer yesterday and took one for a drive around the block. Allure model. 16" tyres worked very well over the bumpy road surface and ramps, happy with comfort. Had the air con turned on and down low as one reviewer said it was very noisy even at the lowest levels, didn't find it a problem. Sat in the back, headroom was fine, not too much trouble getting out of the rear doors which are narrow but elderly may find it difficult. Boot not as small as I feared but typical for it's class.
The new 208 and 2008 both have this raised front bonnet though, very strange, it hides the wipers I guess from the air flow but very pronounced and you can look into the engine compartment a bit, weird feature on both models! Have a look at one yourself to see what I mean.
Took a bit with me fumbling with brake / "gearstick" to get it into drive, I was very confused over it but got it going eventually with much patience from the salesman! Smallish steering wheel of course, very strange to use initially. I didn't adjust anything but it felt the steering wheel was very close to my legs. Tried 3 different drive modes and acceleration was fine, decent pick up, but more linear and smooth than anything you'd call an 'oomph' of course (I've driven Teslas!).

Rear visibility very restricted but they had the camera added for reversing to this particular model (it's an extra).
NCAP reports are favourable but a little hard on pedestrians vs A pillar
The 16" wheel would be my choice so I'd go with the Allure but bump up a few options in the spec to get it closer to a GT.
The GT won't be out until May perhaps.
The center console is very shiny, one of those that will show up fingerprints no doubt!
Well worth a drive, good price compared to the competition and available now. No sign of eCorsa pricing on their website yet for a comparison.

I'm seeing reports on other forums that the optional 11kW onboard charger does not give you 7kW on single phase (like the i3 does).

    It appears the choice is
    - default of 7kW single phase
    or
    - optional 11kW 3 phase charger which gives just 3.6kW on single phase.

    That's disappointing if true.

I've sent an info request to Peugeot. If they reply I'll post it up.

A few journos mentioned during the official launch last year that the ride quality was poor. She says in this review that the engineers have changed it and its much better now...

Spotted that yesterday and thought it was good news. I'm still waiting for a proper range test to be done by someone like Bjorn Nyland before it makes my shortlist.

Yes I like the colour too. I'm thinking of getting it or the red or blue.

Saw the blue in the showroom about three weeks ago. It was really nice, the colour we would be getting if we were to i'd say. Had a black roof, spoiler and wingmirrors aswell.

Well informed! You need to hand the car buying decisions over to her!

Don’t even mention it, she is worst than me for wanting new cars, next thing she will be telling me to sell the outlander and buy her one, the reason is always “ because it makes sense” :-)

Bjørn is doing some testing of the e-208 right now.

    He achieved 292km @ 90km/h and 187km @ 120km/h

That's not great is it ?

My Kona test drive would have been a lot better I'd say it would have seen 300 Km at 120 Km/hr but it does have an extra 10-14 Kwh.

+ it's quite a slow car but that's just typical of French Car manufacturers.

Really shows how efficient the classic Ioniq is.......

That 120 km/h result on e208 is a bit meh - 116 miles and not winter.

Is the current Ioniq not good at 120kmph?

That’s a shocking result for the e208 at motorway speeds. Was one test into the wind and one with the wind or something? Looks like an aero car but small cars are generally not aerodynamic

The Kona did 345km in the same type of test (summer, dry, 120kph).

He reckoned in the test that it really started to sap range when it went over 110km/h. Could be that the aggressive front end doens't lend itself well to higher speeds.

Here's the link to his google docs of results.
