Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah they've been living in there a good while, you'd see them being dropped off in the evenings.

The factory is really an eyesore and something needs to be done about it. I didn't realise people where living there though.

They should build a DART station and park and ride with thousands of spaces. Make it into a bus hub too. Would take hundreds, if not thousands, off the N7, bring quality of life up, and help the environment.

People should send that image to KCC and local politicians. It almost makes too much sense to do it. But nope, prioritise maynooth and Celbridge, naas doesn’t matter.

oh no- i hope they keep the saturday market. If Naas ever entered a competition to be considered middle class, it would roll out details of this saturday market with the artisan breads, local cheeses etc.

Otherwise Naas is just tallaght. hahaha.

Note to all, this is a tongue in cheek joke. I dont want to start a conversation about the social classes in Naas. i am merely making a joke about how middle class this market is.

Naas ball had it up this morning, apparently staying open until July.

It will be a private dwelling going forward.

I'd imagine the Farmers Market will have to move.

Would they not be better just increasing the capacity of the car park at sallins? Not sure how successful it would be, most people aren't communing to Dublin City Centre.

I still think an extension of the Luas with a Park n Ride with stops in Johnstown, Kill and Rathcoole would be a better solution.

    Trax Brasserie is closing
It is with a very heavy heart that we post this.

Trax Brasserie is closing its doors. Unfortunately for us the building has been sold and it will no longer be a restaurant (private dwelling).

The closing date will be the 1st of July 2020 and we would urge our customers to use up all the vouchers they have before that day.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful staff and our many loyal customers for joining us on what has been an incredible journey.

The Luas is a light rail system, it is not designed for long distance travel. It already takes close for an hour to get from Saggart to Connoly on the Luas. It would take way too long from Naas.

Yep -exactly. Extension of the Luas would be a terrible idea. It's way way over capacity as is in rush hour.

Be the holy. They'll have the coldest windiest garden in naas, going by the breeze that goes through me when down at the market. Farmers market would work at the canal area by the library. Parking would be terrible though.

Luas or city trams won’t work to places like Naas, Blessington, Maynooth, etc. They need DART or metro style heavy rail as they are 25-30km from the city centre.

Sallins train station is tiny, it’s hard to get to, isn’t fit for expansion. It’s hard enough to get into now and could never be used as a centre for mass transit in my unprofessional opinion.

I don’t think the diagram I showed is unreasonable. Building a DART station there with thousands of spaces would allow anyone in Naas, Kill, Johnstown, and places further out from naas to just come off the N7 and have a park and ride there. It would obviously be a bus hub too, so there would be buses going to the south and north side of Dublin too for people who aren’t going to the city centre. And when the metros and DART underground is built, people could then connect to wherever they are going from this park and ride in Naas.

Plus, a lot of buses run past here as it stands, it offers far more connectivity than an old small station at sallins.

Joining the two topics i see there was a Naas train station beside trax, is the line path still in existence or was it built over?

Bits and pieces of it are built on and the bridge over the Dublin Road is clearly gone. You can fade in and out modern aerial photos on the 1910s map at geohive.ie

It certainly looks like a bridge there on the map.
I thought it was a level crossing, hence the name was always the Crossings.

I wonder why Hethermans bridge wasn't demolished along with the rail.

    Bit of info here

    http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20N/Naas/IrishRailwayStations.html

the Dublin Rd at the northern end of the station crossed the former double track line from Sallins (singled in 1937) via an overbridge, demolished in 1953 and replaced by a levelcrossing.

ran into a convoy of travellers on Sunday morning at the Rathcoole exit completely blocking the 3 lanes about to start racing the horses on the dual carriageway

Bit of a wet the pants moment as they completely blocked us in, swerving their Land Cruisers with trailers across 3 lanes as we approached, forcing a slam on the brakes moment. Then as I tried to move to the outside lane and go around on the grass verge, they blocked that too

Must have been about 20-30 cars with half of them with trailers

Eventually got passed and we were followed for a few min by one of them, called the boys in blue but not sure what happened

Anyone with knowledge of Naas area estate agents? We are selling our house which is a one off rural house by private sale for around 500k.

    Would Rea Farrell be good?
    Appleton?
    Any other recommendations?

Seems to be happening every Sunday morning
Luckily got by before they started but saw them all parked on the hard shoulder

I wasn’t as lucky the weekend before - stuck behind them for ages
Felt so sorry for the horses

Youd have to wonder why this is not tackled head on, if it's a weekly occurrence.

Hello Everyone, hope you all are having a good day.

stay near the city. Government policy is going to change to keeping people in the city as opposed to commuter towns. you will lose 3 hours a day minimum on the commute.

Have you thought about Citywest or Adamstown?

Should house building just stop outside Dublin city centre then?

Good that you’re hoping to move to Naas, I find it a great town and area to be in. I would look at other things than your commute to sway your decision. Research what goes on in the area, and visit a few times on different days (weekend and during the week)

I have a friend commuting by bus to o’connell Bridge every day. He seems to be happy with it. Train from sallins is another option

No but its ludricous to move to Naas if you work in Dublin City centre. If you have a job in Naas or near, then move to Naas. So you could build houses in Naas. All these new houses being built in naas, just going to block up the roads more. Loads of unused land around Citywest that could cater for people working in dublin city centre.

In answer to your question, Renjit, there are insufficent services in Naas to deal with this population explosion. nobody can get a school place, a GP. There is a tiny park with a run down playground. the town is gridlocked and awful to look at. everyone drives, and nowhere nice to walk. Avoid.

Sherry Fitz - Probably the biggest in Naas - have the finger on the pulse of whats happening in Naas market, bought and sold with them

Rea Brophy Farrell - Had a truly terrible experience with them, ended up dealing with the vendors directly as they were so incompetent. Perhaps it was just the agent we had, I met the owner and he seemed clued in.

Gards would be reluctant to go anywhere near them unless they could guarantee big back up and at those hours that's difficult. Even with that there's a possibility of a serious riot starting.

Probably best to let them get on with it, they'd be finished quickly enough.

Apparently the guards are getting called out to "hoax" calls 30-45 min before the "races" away from where they are having it so when the genuine calls come in from people about them being racing they are too far away to deal with it and they are done
