If an infected person sneezes beside you and either of you don't have protection then you won't need 15mins to have a very high chance of infection.

What are you on about? 15 mins of exposure? Ease up on the Chinese whispers. You can get it as soon as someone sneezes/coughs on you.
It's 'queuing' unless you are playing snooker in the airport.

The person who tested positive is likely the same person who tested negative before. Tests are not accurate..

I think the 15 minutes thing comes from the definition of 'close contact' as per Ireland's Coronavirus Expert Advisory Group.

I don't know what their basis for 15 minutes is. But here you go, this is the protocol:

15 minutes of exposure? All depends on the situation. It only takes 2 seconds to touch something that has some virons on it and then rub your eye

I saw a teenager with a face mask in Dunnes Stores Limerick today.

    Irish, not Chinese.

It will become hipster within a week.

China updates just nine(?) new cases today, and only 1 death...
That fell off a cliff very quickly!
I think those numbers are Wuhan only though? Hubei due in later?

Looks like it can spread through shared soil pipes if the plumbing is done wrongly. Must have been the source of the idea that it could spread through sewage systems

That's gross anyway; sewer gas going through the building. I would think that it must have smelled pretty bad.

Wonder if something like this is behind the spread on cruise ships.

I saw two Irish girls wearing them on two different occasions. They had stupid anime characters on the masks. 100% attention seeking anime comic book geek types.

Hubei numbers not available yet .... these will probably show circa 2k cases and 100 odd deaths

The numbers for China arent out. Hubei is at 10pm, usually much later, and the rest of China is at least an hour and half later

Numbers not released - they are probably just a few reported numbers but nothing official

Schools in the UK are advised not to close even if there is a suspected case, if proven positive then action will be taken. It's probably not bad advice given how few cases there seems to be in the UK, but if there is ever an epidemic in schools in UK heads will be rollin

The sewer thing is likely a mixup/misinformation relating to a closely studied incident during the SARS outbreak in Hong Kong in the Amoy Garden high rise: https://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/personal-protective-equipment/sars-and-plumbing-role-sewage-plays-spreading-disease

Sounds like terrible advice to me

So, in the past the number of confirmed cases seemed to limited by the number of test kits they had. The maximum test appeared to be about 2500 daily. Seeing as there are still thousands of suspected left, why are they not being tested, and the 2500 limit still being reached daily?

Like clockwork with the death rate.

The death rate is increasing quite a lot as the number of new cases drop while deaths increase/remain consistent. In Hubei the mortality rate is now very close to 3%, a week ago it was just around 2.1%. It has also risen quite a lot in the rest of China to over 0.5%, last week it 0.3%.

Are China's numbers accurate? just seem too predictable

They are about as accurate as a blind guy playing darts whilst drunk.

Could be immunocompronised, I've seen a few in Dublin this last week. I'd imagine if you have any underlying issues and see this in the news then you'd take precautions.

From what I have read apparently masks are next to useless for this infection.

Yes the immediate thought when seeing something like that is that the person is ridiculous and dramatic but for a lot of people a virus like this could have serious consequence. Underlying illnesses are more common than you think
