Do you have to sign in for that though cause I can only see the headline 700 plus per month or the cash price with no other info on what that finance figure figure relates to?

No, there's a little up arrow ^ beside the price that lets you expand the finance options.

Ah ya. That doesn't do anything on my phone. That explains it.

Finance is through bank of Ireland I think and is straight forward HP.
Pcp is available in uk but not here yet. Residual values will be interesting to watch when they become more plentiful.
Are you still looking for a 530e mickdw or thinking of something else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,927 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Yep. Still 530e. Hanging around now til UK plate change. More stock might come up.

Just watched your Volvo XC60 review Mark.
Looks like a nice car but vastly overpriced and you could hear it crashing and banging over bumps as you jiggled about in it. Definitely not a luxury car ride.
There are much better ways to spend 90k plus.
I previously watched a review of it on Savage Geese(great reviewer too by the way) and he reckons car is too complex for its own good and would be a nightmare car to try to fix when something goes wrong what with the turbo and supercharger and the electric hybrid system. Not a car to own out of warranty.

Very bar stoolish view, decades ago lads were sh1tting on about fuel injection in a similar way.

Anything in the 90k pricerange can be expensive to fix when somethings go wrong :)

I mentioned the price a few times alright as it's very, very expensive. A neighbour has a normal XC-60 Hybrid and that looks grand as it is. If I'd that money and wanted something similar that was green, spacious and luxurious, it would be the eTron (which I have this week). Vastly superior interior to anything Tesla have so far anyway.

A few pics of said eTron.

Very quick, very heavy, feels like a tank, so solid on something like the M50. Lower down in the interior there’s plastics that you don’t normally get in an Audi - not at that price anyway. The battery is gonna be a huge cost I suppose. Full range when cold yesterday was 285kms. Still easily 4 maybe even 5 days without charging for me with that range though.

Things like blind spot, cross monitoring, cameras in the mirrors are all extras. The standard kit on an KIA eSoul is vastly superior :)

Clever stuff like timing it to heat up in the morning even when it’s not charging, heated seats on, cabin toasty and battery pre warmed at 6am is nice.

Overall, incredibly refined and incredibly expensive.

I see Audi Ireland just shared an Instagram post you did monitoring the etron with the app

Works well. Agree to share your data with the app and connect up via WiFi in the car and the vital stuff is synced to your phone. I need to mess around with it more but think you can programme the car to pre heat from the phone. Other stuff like service interval is there too. Not sure if you can open the car with it however.

It does turn heads but in a 'size of that thing moving in silence' kinda way. Funny to watch in car parks in particular as you breeze by people.

    How much are they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,535 ✭✭✭MarkN

€99,810 - there is a 75k version coming with a slightly smaller battery and the 75k is before grants so presumably you're talking 65k unless Sinn Fein do away with the grants like they said they will.

    tell me mark

have been watching your reviews the last few days,

where do you rate the kodiak against other more premium suvs?

looking at it from a cost and looks perspective it seems to be a no brainer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,535 ✭✭✭MarkN

I really like the Kodiaq and would happily buy one to transport my family. It is expensive for a brand that is famous for being cheaper than its siblings if you go for things like Sportline and sure, it won't feel as premium as an Audi or BMW but I really felt it was such a capable car that you'd be mad to pay for a fancier badge with the same amount of seats. 4X4 and 190bhp TDI engine, there's not much else you need.

You will always come against why would you spend 50k on a Skoda when you can buy a used Audi or BMW for the same money - that's a personal preference that I can't answer for people.

I was in a couple of Audi garages in January and while chatting about sales etc.
, both guys said the e Tron was not really selling.
Too expensive for what it is seemed to be crux of it.
Maybe a cheaper version will do better but I have my doubts in the short term.

Anything over €50k OMV is unattractive enough for BIK purposes, I reckon a very decent % of new EVs are company execs who never had a company car before.

Even a €75k version would attract 30% of €25k in BIK if a company car and doing no business miles, that's almost €4k out of the pocket annually. After 8 or 9 years that's the "saving" of buying a company car wiped out.

    Have seen first hand
BIK to anyone who only commutes has always been a killer.
I know 2 MDs driving their own cars for years that are now in EVs

I’d say a lot of cars that cost 100k are a hard sell but add in the relatively early stages of electricity and it’s an uphill.

I'd say you can count on one hand the number of Model S, eTrons etc that aren't being bought as company vehicles with 0% BIK.

Turns most of these €100k cars into €60k-€70k cars.

    Totally agree.
What would sell though is a premium branded ev in the 60k market to compete with model 3 and replace 5 series/e class/A6.

I do wonder what is going on in that segment, is it a case of hurting ones own brand? An all EV 5 series with even 200km of range would sell like hot cakes. But where does that leave their ICE diesels and petrols.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,112 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

The 98.8 kWh RWD Mustang E is going to shake up that segment for company car buyers, I couldn't see many lumping for any car with a 200km range in a years time.

I suppose my point is this segment is so far behind, the Germans have really had their heads in the sand; with the 330e in development since 2012 and in production since 2015, here we are in 2020 and the only rumblings of an all-EV 5 series aren't until 2023! Talk about slow progress.
