Jesus this is a thing of beauty!

    I watched that last night.
Beautiful car. Would be in my lottery win fantasy garage.
That said a regular s6 would do for me too even though it’s now diesel.

Don't think I could be persuaded to give up the car for a few days!! Would love to see you do a review of one though!

Love this colour in Audis, priced up a new A7 in this colour a month ago, ended up being silly money, they seem worse than BMW when it comes to adding little extras. The RS6 is just an awesome car

Ah no I wouldn’t ask you for your car, you’d just have to be in the video and tell us about ownership of one ;)

I'd give you the car a 100 times before I would appear in a video :D:D

Yes what's that all about? Bad move from Audi considering the anti diesel mentality these days. Weirdly, all the other markets, bar EU, get the 3 litre petrol version with 440bhp.

Yeah and the fake quad exhausts on the diesel s4/s6 are awful. Massive cringe factor. Better to have none at all.

    Model 3 Performance Review:

Some context, I've come from a highly speced 171 520d Touring which I had for just over 2 years so a lot of my review will be in comparison to BMWs. Really loved this car but was always lusting for a 3.0l petrol or even a diesel version just for that extra power which I found the 520d was lacking off.

    Looks:
This is a personal thing but I think from the side and rear this is a really nice looking car, I'm very happy with the colour. From the front view I'm not as keen on it as I think it looks a bit low but do like the Porsche styling factor in it. The wheels look great I think and will get the car tinted and probably get it de-chromed as well.

    Interior:
It's not at BMW 5 series (G30) standards but is above the F30 3 series and feel it's on a par with the G20 3 series from my little experience of them so far. The leather while fake is really nice I think and the seats are very comfortable with good adjustments and fully electric with memory, the softness around the door panels is quite good and there is tons of space in the centre console area. The large screen is the best of anything I've seen in any BMW and you soon forget that you don't have a dash, in fact I don't miss it at all. Probably due to having a heads-up display in my last 2 cards I rarely used the dash anyway. I do miss the heads-up display though and would be really useful in this car.

I will get a few extra things like a carbon trim for the centre console, a cover for the screen, wireless charger and also something to improve the cup-holders which are pretty poor. The sound system is also on a par with HK in the BMW I think which I always thought was pretty decent.

    An Electric Car!!:
I've not yet got a home charger and just using the Granny cable plugged into an outdoor socket and this is sufficient so far my daily needs as my commute is a 26.5km city centre round trip which used about 54km of the range that Tesla calculates so around 50% efficiency. This was a cold morning around 3deg and was about 70mins in the car, it cost me about €1.30 based of 17c/kw but I'm changing provider and will get the night-rate meter so will be around 6c/kw so would cost me €0.42 for in an out to work which is insane when you think of it.

I done a trip to Donegal from Dublin and a trip up there really highlights the poor charging infrastructure we have in parts of Ireland. There is no fast chargers (50kw +) along the route I usually take, I would have to get of the M3 and go into Navan which is a pain, Cavan has only for 22kw chargers and they are in the town. I discovered afterwards that there is a 50kw charger in Enniskillen which I may use in the future. There is a 50kw in Donegal town which I did use for 25mins to get my range up from 107km to 210km just so I would have some useable range when I arrived at my destination as it was calculating that I would have 70km left when I arrive and the range will drop overnight as well. I charged the car overnight at my parents house adding 14km/hour so went into the town in the morning and left the car in the town for 3 hours and the car was fully charged and ready for a trip back home again.

Allin all, it wasn't really an issue, takes a bit of extra planning before you leave so you can ensure your car is fully charged when you leave and you plan out where you are going to stop if you need to. The road to Cork is so much better with Tesla Superchargers about half way down so it should be a lot easier to do and faster. We have a 14month old so we always stop along the way anyways, it's just a pity the route to Donegal didn't have at least an ESB 50kw along the route.

    Driving!!
The car is insane to drive, the power in this car is just something you have to experience, from every speed you have instant power, wether that is at 0, 50, 100 and even 150km/hr this car just takes off when you accelerate. It's a great buzz, to many times though and it would probably make you sick but still love doing it!! The handling is also really good, took it on a few back roads with a bit of spirited driving and the handling is just excellent, with the 4 wheel drive you feel so confident as a driver, in the BMW there is always the chance it could spin out on you from the rear but that is never a worry in the Tesla.

Overall I love the car and have no regrets so far, it will also upgrade the SW as new features roll out which is just fantastic I think, they keeping adding new things and even power upgrades to make the car even faster free of charger is just amazing. This adds to the excitement for me, reading up and seeing what new features it will bring, it's a bit like getting a new car again!!

Sounds great except for the charging but when at home you're sorted 👍

I'm pretty sure there are three Tesla chargers in Bundorran in the car park of Madden's bridge bar. I have no idea if these are superchargers or what way these things work but they are Tesla branded if that is any use to you?

Edit...just googled it and they are Tesla "destination chargers". Think just somewhere to plug in, but slow rate of charge.

Yeah, that’s the problem, you would be waiting hours to get a good top up, they are usually only 7kw chargers. Fine if you are parked up for the night but useless if trying to add range on a trip. Also again it’s out of the way to go to if trying to get up the road in a reasonable time!! Hopefully with ESB due to roll out new 150kw chargers this year that they can put one on the main N3 route to Donegal

Gorgeous looking car digiman. Love that blue and the matt black wheels, they compliment each other perfectly. Well wear.

You’ve gotta get a home charger, it will make such a difference. Love the colour combo!

The pricing is a bit odd on the website:

    Screenshot-20200209-190453-com-android-chrome.jpg

They show the price minus the expected savings on fuel for the average customer over the next 5 years....

It reads almost as if the car price is €8,900 less.

Looks very straightforward ordering one though, bit like ordering a phone.

Very straightforward to order one but up until now not so straightforward actually getting one apparently.
They don’t seem to build to order but build batches of cars of certain specs and the allocate one to you when something matching your spec comes up. From following the model 3 thread it appears you could order one when announced three years ago and still be waiting but someone who ordered before Christmas might already have their car.

Ideal way to manufacture anything if the customer doesn't mind waiting. Lots of Tesla customers don't seem to mind too much.

The fact Tesla can get away with this approach speaks volumes of the faith their customers have in the company and what they are doing.

Jesus if you order a car, you would want to know it's going to turn up in the same year at least. That kind of messing is ok when it's new and hip but if they want to do numbers, they need to get their game together.
I couldn't make any sense of their pricing either.
They seemed to be offering a monthly finance price but with little to no detail around that.

€25k down and 682 a month..my mortgage is nearly 100 quid less than that. I suppose the fuel savings would be substantial to offset some of that cost.

How scrabbly is a RWD model 3 ............ the EV Kia Niro and Ioniq are spinny as foook.

To be fair that's a weird comparison........

    ..... under €600/month is a small mortgage ........... and nearly 700/month is a large car payment :)

True, it's all relative I guess, I'm part of the "squeezed middle" so there is no way I could afford repayments like that.

Maybe the Shinners will give us a few quid back:P

If they published 5 year hp figures, things might look a lot more affordable.
The website headline figures are very off putting.
I'm spending 300 per month of petrol doing small mileage.
Pcp option too with 15k deposit and 550 per month would make them very tempting considering the fuel savings. You would save most of the deposit on fuel.

Change to 60 months and later deposit figure

New political landscape forming now so I wouldn't be taking anything for granted going forward around low ev running costs. Who knows what ev owners will be paying for their electricity in 3 or 5 years time. Somebody will have to pay for all those election promises made.

Do you have to sign in for that though cause I can only see the headline 700 plus per month or the cash price with no other info on what that finance figure figure relates to?
