Anything parked in the "neighbours spot" these days?

Yeah, the neighbour. Once he moves the E60 will be relocated until it becomes one with nature.

Bought a Subaru, now the garden is full... Luckily the Skyline and Silvia are in the shed :pac:

WRX? Well wear, I've always wanted one but don't think I could get away with one as my daily and don't have space for two cars.

Yep, 2.5 one... Itch that needed to be scratched really so we'll see how far it makes as a daily. Hopefully get a year or so from it.

I’m thinking of doing the exact same lately. Have a Corsa opc at the moment but always wanted a WRX. But wondering is it just complete madness having one as a daily.

4 wheels on a car, 10 cable ties.
    2.5 cable ties per wheel.
Hmmm, call me suspicious but I think someone is taking the piss! :pac:

Chappos, would I be correct in thinking that if you re-shell a car, you need to keep and use the new shells reg, rather than the old one? Also can't get the chassis re-stamped or that, due to dodgieness of it?

Yeah, the ID stays with the chassis/shell.

    Well, it should.

That means I'm going to have a Donegal reg car...

    The shame.

As in cutting it out and replacing?

Yes it wouldn't be allowed but if done right nobody would ever know....

If done as a con job it would be an issue of course.

I'm not, but I might know a guy...

Although the car will be attracting enough attention with the J's exhaust as it is..

I know exactly what car you're talking about :P Send both cars to Steve Richardson and have him make the first one great again.

Fairly sure you helped install my front strut brace, I remember some grumbling about it :P

Second shell shall become the first, minus all the rust :pac:

Yep, the Race Series 3 point one. I've had the car a while ha.

It's been dead for the last couple of years after one of Baz's trackdays up in Mondello.

Yeahhhh I remember that, because I remember flipping it and clocking my chin with it.

Wouldn't mine cutting the VIN off my '06 RX8 and putting it on a later R3.

It happens all the time in Aviation. Most 'Warbirds' are newbuilt aircraft - but so long as you have the original maker's plate and loogbooks it still counts as the same plane - like a sort of ship of theseus.

The VIN is the car. Everything else is just parts of it.

Having fun up the Sally Gap yesterday.

Came across a few cars stranded, inc a bmw that had no business leaving the driveway, nevermind tackling mountain roads in those conditions.

That patrol must have pulled out a fair few cars yesterday.

Is that an xdrive badge on the 5er too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

It's an f10 isn't it? So no x-drive if so. Passed an E60 530d also on the military road which had drifts on it further up. Brave lads!

Suzuki looks great! Problem with xdrive (and the likes) is it gives a false sense of security to the owner, some more so than others. My car is xdrive, but it is still sitting on wide summer tyres. Absolutely terrible in the snow and ice over the last few days. It'll do better than a rwd going up a hill maybe, but braking it's as bad as every other car on the road. Quite scary the other day watching the speed of some cars coming towards me, and when I touched the brakes as lightly as I could I could feel the ABS working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

Yes and the problem in those conditions with an automatic is you can't drop a gear and use the engine to slow the car rather than the brakes. Even with the paddles, dropping gears has little affect.

Use to go up there in a Micra.

Had a great laugh and would pass 4x4s stuck and in ditches....

    Many cars abandoned....

No chains and no winter tyres but the car just glided along.

Best thing about the big snow the other year was rolling past the stuck Range Rovers in my summer-tired RX8

    And rings in the carpark.
