    24 degrees?? I'd melt!

Very little wind? You got 30km/h wind in the back. So you thought you were driving at 105km/h (real speed), but in fact you were only driving at 75km/h, corrected for wind speed. No wonder your consumption was so good :p

The heating in an eGolf isn’t as good as other cars. It only blows lukewarm air at 24, just enough to take the sting out of the air. An used to it now so it doesn’t bother me.

Going to use the same roads on the way home and see if there’s any difference. I can check consumption from “start of journey” so be interesting to see.
    5kms/kWh makes Sunday’s drive a bit easier.

There's also gradient and the like to consider. My journey home is almost always less consumption than my commute to work, even with a headwind most days.

In fairness that would be a case of gigo.
It's doing what you asked it to do with the filters.

We use the term SISO at work.

I'll have to readjust ABRP, the winds are a-coming.

I've a trip to Galway this weekend. Was looking at ABRP for my trip. I like to arrive at a charger with ~20% battery, in case I need to divert to the next charger. Given my details, ABRP had me bypassing my destination in order to charge from 19% to 81%, just so I arrived at my destination/waypoint with more than 20%.

Regardless of ABRP, i'll likely always charge to 80% when fast charging. Saves the range anxiety.

Zero range anxiety today. Got to Shannon with plenty of range (slow traffic probably helped, though wind wasn't favourable). Guy was charging in Shannon when I landed and he headed away as soon as I landed. Destination charged in Galway while I watched Connacht win. Win win all around

Did you stop in Shannon on both legs?

    Only heading back this morning.

    Only heading back this morning.

Pressed on to Limerick instead. The RFID on the charger doesn't work though. Good thing I have the app so I could start it that way. the poor woman after me didn't though, so she had to ring them up to try and get them to start it

I was in Tullamore today and one of the SCP seems to be taken over by someone in an i3. Every time I pass the same car is there in the same spot charging.

Tis a great little country! Personal free charge points!

This owner is abusing it a bit alright, very unfair on anyone else needing a charge.

Curious how fees on these slower chargers would work. Was in Galway at the weekend and the dyke road car park is €5 for the day. And there is a charger there

Very hard to know, on one hand they are “destination” chargers as they are 22kw but they are very handy for adding a few kms if you’re near one and will be there for an hour or two.

I think the overstay charge should kick in after two hours.

Free parking in the Galway County including the City whilst charging.
Btw that charger was broken for more than a year, got replaced only very recently.

Yep. That's what it is in Prague for example.
Up to 2 hours, pay per kWh, relatively low rate, after 2 hours pay per min, relatively high rate.

Dyke road EV charger has a "have you paid and displayed" sign on the sign which says EV parking only. I paid. So did the leaf beside me.
If there's an overstay fee in the Pipeworks, that would be forcing me to repark my car, in potentially a full car park, where I have paid to stay for the full day. Not saying it's right to hog a charger, but over stay fees are going to be super complicated in these scenarios.

I agree it could be complicated. The solution is obviously to make all EV spots free of charge in all local authorities (if it's not a charger at a private car park)

But regarding the parking fee, I had asked Galway council directly, they had confirmed no fee whilst charging.

  • Moderators Posts: 12,419 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

Is there any way to see what councils require EVs to pay for parking? Heading to Galway at the weekend (another solo out of range trip) and i'm checking out my destination charging options.

Also, any known issues with the Limerick/Shannon, Galway (and if needs be) Ennis chargers? (just checked Ennis, someone's getting an overstay fee :pac: )

Whilst we're going to see a big increase in BEVs available next year, there will also be a big spike in available PHEVs.
It's sure going to make AC charging fun, but at least they act as a gateway drug

Rehab is going to take a loooong time though! :)

One thing I've noticed is there's a tendency to just repaint existing car parking spaces for EVs and say "job done" - no consideration of the fact that to charge and EV you'll need a little bit of extra width on a parking space in order to easily connect cables (and ensure your cables aren't blocking another parking space).

And of course there's the scourge of the bulbous American-sized PHEV SUV, an absolute disgrace unto humanity. They don't fit in regular parking spaces!

Tesco rolling out charge points, two per site at 52 stores: https://www.newstalk.com/news/tesco-roll-52-electric-vehicle-charging-points-nationwide-940754

It's in conjunction with ESB, so I presume it's going to be the usual on street chargers.

Owner of the waterford site where the ecars charger is is at it again, has barricaded the charger with a bench

More chargers for the hoggers!!! If they are 22 kW you won't get much charge for the few minutes your in shopping.

    PR stunt at best!!
