You can just add the website to your Home Screen and it's the same thing.

Oh I know i can do that, but I mean for the users that still try to use the app, it would stop the useage of the outdated app

I'm looking at Charge History on the website, and the dates under Filters are in the confusing and illogical American date format. My device settings have the Irish formats as default, so I'm wondering if this is the default on the site. Anyone else seeing this?

Showing European date format on the desktop as well as Android.
Check browser language settings, it may be pulling it from there.

I'd put 20 euro into the account while setting up the account. It went fine. I then asked the account to be changed to the introductory offer, that was done within few days. But in the process they "lost" the 20 euro, brilliant. So I raised a ticket and they said they would fix it. That was on 12 November. Had to chase today.
If this is how they define customer service then...

I know it just launched but would it kill them to have a higher res image of the esb logo on the login screen

They are reusing the UK app, just redeployed to Ireland. Also using a framefork so very little to screw up.

Not a bad app. Improvement on the pathetic previous so called app.

    "Excellent" reviews from the UK:

Looks like it's possible to charge without subscription. Requires credit/debit card details.

Seems handy. Anyone know is there a way to change off imperial units though?

Mine is in metric. Maybe a regional setting on your mobile?

Seems like a very competent app. The colour coding seems logical and the fact you can start a session from the app is handy too instead of dealing with the delay using the card locally.
    Kudos to them.

Mine's metric too. At last, the default connector isn't Chademo. :D

Yes the timer in the app is not accurate.
Note the starting time and the time on the phone. Here is after about 15 minutes

    Reply from eCars today....

    Thank you for your email.

As our backend office records show the duration of transaction number 1762564 was over 45 mins. We are unable to refund the overstay charger.

    Kind Regards

    And my reply...

Your back end may tell you one thing but your front end was telling me another, can you please explain how there was a variance between the timer I was looking at on your website and the time that was recorded on the back end.

From a recent post on Boards.ie it is clear that the two timers do not match and conveniently it seems to be in your favour each time.

I understand that the communication link between the charger and your back end may take a few seconds but nowhere on your website does it make it clear that the timer I'm looking at is only an approximation.

The solution should be that you advise customers to stop charging at around 43 minutes to totally obviate the risk of overcharge or change the back end rules to allow some additional time for the potential discrepancy.

Can you please refer this issue to your IT team and come back to me with a reply, I do understand the timing issue resident in your software.

    Regards

    That's a really poor and high-handed reply!

Is there a body responsible for regulation of ecars, similar to Comreg for the communications sector?

They shouldn't have started fee based charging until they had their system sorted to handle these type of discrepancies.

I blame DrPhil for contacting them about an overstay fee. They just weren't ready for it. :D

CRU (formerly CER) regulate energy suppliers.

Yep you can get onto cru with regards improper pricing

Similar. Signed up for PAYG, they've taken €60 in debits so far, I've had €23.50 of usage but the account says I only have €16.50 left. They've lost one of the €20 debits.

I was on hold for ten minutes while a fella I thought was consulting a manager was actually just counting the 5 transactions. "I've done the maths over and over, I can't work out how that happened". Well, yes, the answer isn't going to change much on 3 additions and 2 subtractions

Promised a callback from "head office" with an update which hasn't happened over a week later :(

Charging infrastructure uses electricity but it's not under the remit of CRU.

If you go complaining to the CRU they'll tell you to get lost! ;)

I'd say your recourse would be to the courts or the general consumer protection agency (https://www.ccpc.ie)

    Why not?
If it's not under the CRU remit then why was the pricing delayed until the CRU (or CER) made a decision on whether the charging network could be included as RAB?

For exactly that reason. The CRU decided that providing a charging network does not constitute an energy provider hence they have no remit around the pricing of EV rapid charging. The end customer in this case is the EV network provider not the guy charging the car.

For example, an energy provider has to charge you for the energy you use and the CRU regulate that price. An EV rapid charge point operator can decide to charge you per kW, per min, have subscription charges etc and none of that comes under CRU remit as the operator is not selling you electricity, they are selling you access to the charger.

If ESB is licenced as a supplier of energy then they are covered by CRU

    Interesting.

So who is the regulatory body? If there is none then surely one should be created?!

IN this incidence it would seem that the licenced ESB supplier is supplying Ecars and not the end user
