All I can say is if you post in here with regard to what car you are thinking of buying, everybody can tell you general things to look out for, or some can be more specific to certain cars etc.

Apart from that, there are also guys out there (fully qualified mechanics) who carry out inspections as a service, and will to some degree, stand over their verdict on a car, but I can't say I have ever used one, as when buying bangernomics cars, they would probably knock every single car I have ever bought!

Half decent examples of these are very hard to come by. Aside from the wing (which isn't that bad, come on!) it looks very clean. Long term owner, history, very clean inside etc etc. Its definitely worthy of a sympathetic owner...

I'd be hoping it was a misfire down to faulty spark or plug lead or something. Going on the description, I feel it's probably somebody very honest and who has no idea what is causing it to run poorly. Even with the few marks, 500 quid gets you what is a rapidly disappearing car at this stage!

It's pretty dear for a car that isn't very good too. They're a tad heavy for the power they put out and the engine isn't at all revy either.

1.8 petrol civic hatch or saloon would be a better option. Similar tax with much better performance and reliability.

A nice 07 e12 corolla hatch would be worth a mention too. Better performance and only 1.4 tax.

I lived with the guy who owned that new. He was a sales manager for Rob Roberts and covered huge mileage. It was well looked after in its early years.
