Many thanks for reply and happy motoring.........! Im at little inexperienced at inspections
and Im looking at one at the mo. Would you fancy having a look at it for me (with me)?

While I appreciate being asked, and totally get where you are coming from, I'm afraid I wouldn't have the time, and the bigger issue is, while having a basic idea of what bits to look out for when buying a car, I too have purchased lemons over the years!!!

All I can say is if you post in here with regard to what car you are thinking of buying, everybody can tell you general things to look out for, or some can be more specific to certain cars etc.

Apart from that, there are also guys out there (fully qualified mechanics) who carry out inspections as a service, and will to some degree, stand over their verdict on a car, but I can't say I have ever used one, as when buying bangernomics cars, they would probably knock every single car I have ever bought! :D

Same owner for the last 20 years, alleged full history, tax til end of December and NCT til April 2020 - €500 ono

This looks like a bit of a gem. Mightn't be the cleanest example there is, but even still! I am very tempted..

Heres another, in Cork this time, with NCT til September 2020 for €475!

    Looks tidy too.

Amazingly it doesn't even have a hitch!

Really? Engine fault and that panel looks terrible.

Half decent examples of these are very hard to come by. Aside from the wing (which isn't that bad, come on!) it looks very clean. Long term owner, history, very clean inside etc etc. Its definitely worthy of a sympathetic owner...

..I tried calling but got no answer.

To be fair, if the potential engine issue was anything more than a weak battery or something, it would need to be 100 quid or thereabouts. I'm optimistic though!

1 owner from new, long NCT, yours for €300

I'd be hoping it was a misfire down to faulty spark or plug lead or something. Going on the description, I feel it's probably somebody very honest and who has no idea what is causing it to run poorly. Even with the few marks, 500 quid gets you what is a rapidly disappearing car at this stage!

Yeah, I hadn't done it in a while, but I set out specifically to find a half decent car for just a few hundred quid. Plenty out there. Ireland must have the cheapest bangernomics cars in the world.

That ad displays all the hallmarks of a very dodgy ad. Attractively low miles, 1 owner, full history, copy and paste ad (...can’t read or write, boss)

If you went to view that you would probably (definitely) be robbed of your car/phone/money in a car park near St. Margaret’s.

What could possibly be wrong with an Audi Sportback that has no service history and has only done an average of 100km a week for 15 years?

It's pretty dear for a car that isn't very good too. They're a tad heavy for the power they put out and the engine isn't at all revy either.

1.8 petrol civic hatch or saloon would be a better option. Similar tax with much better performance and reliability.

A nice 07 e12 corolla hatch would be worth a mention too. Better performance and only 1.4 tax.

The Mondeo that is immaculate inside and out looks like it was a taxi on the Gaza Strip.

I lived with the guy who owned that new. He was a sales manager for Rob Roberts and covered huge mileage. It was well looked after in its early years.

I bought a bangernomics Mondeo off them last year without any issues. I arrived on a Saturday morning, they were extremely busy.

A few people on here seem to have an issue with them, but similarly to you I have found them grand to deal with on the various occasions I’ve done business with them
