"Split" gave me renewed faith that Shyamalan had recovered some of his early (and perhaps undeserved) hype.

"Glass" took that faith and drowned it in a puddle.

That the man still finds work, and somehow contrives to have his name put in the titles, is kinda baffling.

Hold on WTF, is that baby dead or a robot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    That ain't no baby!!!

Is this their creepy horror show or something?

D'oh.. thought it was out this weekend! :(

    Looking forward to it..

So the Shyamalam twist at the end of the first season won't really be the twist as that will come in the second season now or the third season or the fourth season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

It's sooo borderline creepy for me in deciding to watch or not.

First 3 episodes drop tomorrow looking forward to it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Damm I liked that first episode creepy as fcuk then the final scene.

Going with 30 minute episodes by the looks of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,034 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Watched the first 2... decent!

The cast are decent, but Kebbell is the standout IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Finished the first three and its developing into a good mystery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    1: WTF!

I was all like... ah ye, shur the twist is gonna be about yer man and how he's coping

or maybe even.. this could be way in the future and the nanny could be a robot or something

but awe no.. nope.. it was that end scene!

I did spot the M. Night Shyamalan cameo though :) The delivery guy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    2: I dunno.

Is it about him coping with something? Is he imagining the brother? But then she would be too. Unless she's just going along with him (like he thinks he is with her). What's he doing to himself with the splinters? Did he eat the yoke?

OR is it supernatural, is the girl doing something, did she steal a baby, is it her baby?

I'm kinda leaning towards the idea that something suspicious in an M. Night show.. might well not be the twist.. and the unsuspicious things could well be.

The wife staring off into the distance like that could be her going catatonic but it's also got me back to the Robot theory!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    3: Awe now I dunno.

Now it looks like Leanne is up to something... unless yer man is imagining loads of stuff.. but if he is then the Tobey stuff is odd.

    Definitley a mystery!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,769 ✭✭✭Doodah7

This is so good!! The whole lot of them are so narcissistic and neurotic but you can see from how the story is unfolding why.

The series almost works like a stage play with the small cast and the pretty much only one location.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    4: I don't know. It's like a lower-everyones-defenses episode or something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    5: Right, I'm lost again.

Maybe the husband + real/imaginary bro has started paying people to get rid of her or there's a few people scoping the house out to rob it

    What about Uncle George??

6: Right... Yeah, No, the brothers real. Something definitely up with Leanne

Yes indeed, What about Uncle George and that doll! What about Aunt May! I'm not sure I want to find out about Aunt May!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 333 ✭✭Martin Tyler AgueroooOO

It really confusing and intriguing and the dog this week. Ron Weasley is great in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

7: That was really confusing. So the brother isn't imaginery. Now wondering if Leanne actually brought the baby. We just saw the husbands imaginary take on that. Maybe her and her Uncle (and the dreaded Aunt May) are just some really religious family that had something wierd happen. Now Shyamalan is throwing a curve ball with the brother and this therapist agreeing they did something terrible.. like are they just talking about the illusion? Is there some bigger conspiracy... I dunno, it's all really confusing.. or maybe like.. back to wide open on what the big THING Shyamalan is gonna have been there the whole time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,769 ✭✭✭Doodah7

More weirdness! What’s the story with dog/wolf/lion cub? What was it? Dorothy not looking delighted with Julian copping off with her friend!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

A lot of it has gotta be Shyamalan dodging and weaving around us trying to figure out what his big twist is gonna be. Dogs could easily just be the part of the stray Dogs in the city news bit that Dorothy had been covering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

8: Well, I'm a bit more lost after that one. Though it definitely pushes the question of WHAT DID THEY DO!? a bit more into mind now.

It's like.. whatever about Leanne .. it's as if they did something pretty bad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 333 ✭✭Martin Tyler AgueroooOO

Ok I can safely say I have know idea what the hell is going on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,769 ✭✭✭Doodah7

Interesting that Julian went looking in the bath and the washing machine!! It is also interesting to google the meaning of a pearl in the mouth and how it relates to Chinese burial customs.

The programme is getting weirder by the week...

yeah or worse! .. or nothing (M. Night!!)

It's got that really annoying 'implausible response'/'questionable decision-making' thing throughout, and is quite plodding, but the creepiness, weirdness and mystery factor within each episode always seem enough to ensure looking forward to the next episode. Watched up to 9 of 10; anticipating something really unsettling in the finale to set up season 2, and a window into what the hell is going on with that baby.

9: Wow, I just felt so angry the longer Jericho was just left in the car.

    F*ck that's so sad.

I'm guessing the bad thing they did is they covered the death up.

Ok well that last few minutes sets up season 2 and answered what the connection was between Leanne and the family was.

Ok well that last few minutes sets up season 2 and answered what the connection was between Leanne and the family was.

Opening up a window to the outside world, with lots of questions and possibilities, particularly about the origin (and role?) of Jericho.
Shyamalan has done a great job of mixing atmosphere and intrigue, aided by excellent music/sound. Series 2, as you said before, is in the pipeline; Shyamalan has said he wants to do 6 series.

I reckon that’s the end of Sean and Dorothy’s arc? They will move on to another area and another family to serve...

In case others haven't reached the end of the series yet:
Or back to the new ranch/cult base, first. The titular servant may not even refer to Leanne- it could be to the cult's servants as a whole.
Leanne's "aunt and uncle" seemed to have had to track her down, and had to prise her away from the family, so the Turner family was Leanne gone rogue, before returning to the fold

But: Sean's lack of sensations, and his recurrence of splinters, as well as Dorothy's 'absence-seizure' moments suggesting brain-washing
(explaining the lack of cognitive dissonance following the doll/baby switheroo) - there could be a switch back and forth from that house to the cult base, or- a new house showing new manifestations that- altogether - only get explained much later

Season 1: Overall.. well.. this show creeped me out many times! Mystery was done well. Will watch season 2.
Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell did great as Dorothy and Sean.

    10: The
    hand! Why Dude!
    Why!! Stop that!
I was also guessing that it was the end for Dorothy and Sean.
The brother though.. Julian played by Rupert Grint.. it feels like we might see more of him and yer wan he's been with.
Leanne does seem to be the person-with-power(s) mystery that Shyamalan is building up.

Also secretly feeding the child's placenta to everyone just added to the extra how fcuked up are they all.

    I think she's key. She's there before, during and after (apparent) birth, so could be instigator of "absence-seizure" zoning out and mystery of the baby ;
cut off by Dorothy, yet slips back in to household through Julian. Rival to Aunt and Uncle for Jericho?

    Bump. Back this morning.

Could have done without seeing the
    blister
    scene over breakfast.

Thanks for the reminder!! Looking forward to getting creeped out all over again!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    2.1: I'm guessing
Leanne and crew are going to have to make contact. Otherwise this could fizzle out. At the same time, I'm not sure what the brother could be up to.

    Also,
Sean's picking at his own body is so unnerving!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Now the cops are involved I'm not sure how Dorothy doesn't find out her child is dead and have another breakdown.

Anyone else notice that Julian (Rupert Grint) is nearly always either drinking or eating in every scene he is in. I assume there is some hidden meaning in this.

The baby is freakishly real looking.

Could be just copying Brad Pitt who is always eating in his movies.

Why Brad Pitt Is Always Eating In Movies
Brad Pitt eats in his movies... a lot. Here's why his characters are always hungry (and the effect it has on your enjoyment of the film).
