Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Relax folks.

She'll just run as an independent "gene pool FG' candidate if things don't go her way on this.

Outside of FG she is unelectable.

She could apply for a job as a swing supervisor.

    I wouldn't be so sure.

You'd want to be knee deep in community work and projects in order to survive this and get re-elected as an independent.Tony Gregory, Willie O'Dea et al.

Not saying she isn't, just saying. She would nearly want to be running against FG.

Leo sez he'll take their vote into consideration. Likely as much as the FG HQ took the vote to elect Coveney as leader.

Will the Dun Laoghaire branch have the cojones to do in private what Leo didnt have the cojones to do in public?

Just heard on the 2pm news on NT that Leo several ministers are refusing to back Maria, not sure who the ministers were, but they had a clip of Richard Briton throwing his hat into the ring.

Can't get my head around it or their motives, didn't they come out swinging (no pun intended) for Maria in the wake of the report that most definitely exonerated her in every way it could?

They're now prepared to scuttle a TD, that their own internal report found did nothing wrong? Ever get the feeling that this report that Leo decided should not be revealed to the plebs didn't say what leo told the plebs it said?

Alan Farrell must be touching cloth tbh.

Of course it didn't JD, otherwise Leo would have had it out to the press that night and hitting every morning radio show with the extracts/commentary.

Leo, far more than his predecessor, is very conscious of media perception and "messaging" to the aforementioned plebs. First and foremost regarding his own profile, but he knows the cat was out of the bag on this one, and there's also Maria' implication that if she goes down, others are going down too from her infamous SOR interview to factor in.

Irish Examiner lists the non backers as Leo, Simon Harris, Eoghan Murphy, Richard Bruton and Josepha Madigan.

**Looney Tunes voice** Wait a goddam cotton-picking minute here.....

So, Madigan gave Maria Bailey initial legal advice to initiate a case against the Dublin business, helped her fill in the application to the PIAB, (and I wonder if she had any involvement in demanding the initial 20k from the hotel), and now she's joining forces with others in refusing to back her?

Surely Bailey took the legal advice at face value, and did what she was advised to do based on same? I know if I go to my doctor and if he prescribes something, I don't go off on my merry way asking the pharmacist to give me something else.

What a bunch of sleveens, I'm almost at a point where I'm rooting for Maria now, this could get interesting and messy.

    Popcorn required post haste.

Likely Maria dropped Josepha in it in the internal report so they are no longer pals and Josepha is gambling Maria won't make things worse for everyone by going public.
    Might leak out mind ;)

When a motion of no confidence was tabled locally in recent weeks, Bailey made an impassioned defence of her position.

She referred to the death of her father, John Bailey, re-elected as a Fine Gael councillor in May before he died in July and the personal toll of the fallout from the controversy over the claim.

Bailey said she hadn't been given the opportunity to properly mourn his loss because it had been non-stop.

A similar appeal tonight will be hard to ignore.

    Utterly pathetic.

+ 100% !!! Really scraping the bottom of the barrel now..sympathy vote. What has the private and personal life of a TD got to do with their professional life??? We all have personal tragedy's / problem's etc. But that's what they are "Personal". A few days mourning, then back to work, and life returns to normal for ordinary working people who have to make a living. Sure they will remember anniversaries ect. but the life goes on.

Off to the high court if Bailey gets the heave ho I suspect. Perry from Sligo only cost the party 500k when he took the party on, to let him run.

As am I, the word is there was a lot of support.

I'm sitting here wondering, what precedent this further sets for our officials holding public office.

It's a very bad vote for the country if true.

I'm really starting to thing we are a greedy country. National politics seem to mean **** all.

No telling what stories Maria might blurt out if cut loose, she knows where the bodies are buried, from Madigans role in the claims saga, all the way back to her crooked Das dealings.

Friends close and enemies closer and all that rigmarole.

Right decision has been made. I mean after they Sean o rourke interview which was an utter train wreck how she didn’t do the right thing and not put her name forward(I’m not sure when the convention was so her name might have went forward prior to swing gate) but hopefully the top brass in FG take her off the ticket.

Mixed feelings about this. I was hoping she would get the full distaste for her in a huge electoral defeat.

Will be interesting to see. I’d say she didn’t have the whip removed and expelled from the party because that report was fairly damning to the party as a whole. Add in the Perry legal precedence, I’d say she will still likely be on it. Keeping her happy is probably keeping it from being released to the public.

Not blaming Leo here but he is between the proverbial rock and a hard place. He will have to choose which option does the least damage.

Rock and a hard place? He hadn't the balls to be decisive last May instead he commissioned a report hoping that would bury the matter.Reap what you sow. FG doing well to hold two seats in DLR with Bailey on the ticket they will be lucky to get one.

Leo and the lads are in a lose lose situation now regardless, if how this is being reported is correct, and the matter is being put back on the top echelons of the FG Party, then they will have to either sink a TD who, (according to them) an unreleased internally conducted investigation completely exonerated her from any wrongdoings, would look like extremely bad form, and hypocritical to get shot of her after that.

Do they look like hypocritical ****, who (in bad form) got rid of an exonerated woman,

Or do they leave a woman on the ticket who the nation view as an absolute charlatan who tried to fleece a local business because of her own stupidity, following the advise of her party colleague still sitting pretty in a ministerial position?

Well done leo, you played an absolute blinder, you absolute Muppet.:D

Had he of removed bailey almost six months ago when he should have, the worst of this would have blown over by now.

D - from me Leo, must try harder.
