Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Venue: International Stadium Yokohama
Kick off 5pm local, 9am Irish time, 9pm NZ time.
Officials: Ref: Nigel Owens(Wales). Assistant referees: Romain Poite(France) & Pascal Gauzere(France). TMO Marius Jonker (SA).

    Teams:

    wIrCbCq.jpg

    qFcGLKK.jpg

Both teams have significant changes from the match at the end of 2018. The addition of the Vunipola boys will make a huge difference for England, and the NZ team has had multiple changes across the pitch.

    Team Selections

    England:

Eddie Jones has decided to reshuffle his backline, with Ford coming in, Farrell moving to 12 and Slade dropping out of the starting lineup. With the backline performing well last week, it will be interesting to see if this is the right call.

    NZ:

NZ have decided to bulk up the forward pack, with Scott Barrett coming into blindside flanker, and Sam Cane dropping to the bench. Savea moves to openside. No doubt, this is to combat the bulk of the Vunipolas.

    Key Matchups:

There's interesting matchups across the field, but some of the more interesting ones for me:

Loose forwards: Can the power of Billy V be negated by the NZ loose 3? Will the England loosies be able to stop Savea from making his usual yardage?

Midfield: The English combination of creativity of Farrell and bish bash bosh of Tuilagi against the solid defence and offloading game of ALB and Goodhue.

Back 3: The back 3 for both sides are lethal. The question is which team will take their chances when they arise?

    Prediction:

A tight match with less than a score in it

    England 19-25 NZ

Fair play. Think both semi-finals deserve a match thread.

It should be a cracker.I think England have a real shot at this.

Hoping for a win for the sweet chariot. No offence to the All Blacks but a new winner would be nice.

Plenty of gusto from the English in the anthem, not like us not even signing our national anthem.

Expecting a massive contest. Clearly the two best teams in the competition.

Think England will try get the territory and force New Zealand into mistakes. Try and get points at every opportunity.

Going to be very close but will go for New Zealand by 5

So that's what a good rugby team does.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,240 ✭✭✭✭Hurrache

If you were told a team a scored from their own 22 in the first 2 minutes you wouldn't be guessing it was England.

We got a game on here. Good to see NZ under pressure

    Game on.

Such fine margins. Savea was in prime position for a turnover earlier but the English player kept rolling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,492 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

That is at a different plane than Ireland at their peak. Style over substance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 653 ✭✭✭Gonad

That’s what the game needed really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,188 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

New Zealand are slow to fold around in defence. Ireland knew that and targeted the wider areas. We actually got into positions where we could score but didn't execute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,221 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    Holy crap batman

holy geronimo. look at them actually tackle, make a break and hold the ball.
